Kryst posted an update in the group
Tarot School 9 years, 2 months ago So, I had been feeling a lot of feels lately and went to my tarot deck to do an inventory of what was going on. To give y’all some background, I identify as poly and have a couple of what I’d call “long-distance intimate friendships”. For about a year now, I’ve been open to finding a primary partner closer to home, and have definitely caught the baby fever. I’ve done a few simple spreads before this one, but I thought doing a Celtic Cross would give me more of a generalized viewpoint to work from. I’ve been interpreting it on my own using some online resources, but I’d be open to feedback from the group as to what’s going on.

1. Two of Cups
2. Seven of Cups
3. Four of Pentacles
4. The Devil
5. Seven of Wands
6. Daughter of Cups
7. Father of Wands
8. Mother of Wands
9. Five of Wands
10. Eight of WandsPS.. I know I’ve shuffled this deck so many times, so when I drew that many Wands at the end, I was so skeptical. lol. Anyone else experiencing the same during their readings? Thanks ahead of time for your feedback. :)
Just random notes.
1. 2 of cup is the minor equivalent of The Lovers, so it seems that the situation relates to relationships. It sounds like you’re ready to make more of a primary bond with someone (which you’ve said, lol).
2. Learn Tarot says this re: the 7 of cups…
“When the Seven of Cups appears in a reading, it is important to look carefully at how disordered your situation is. Is everything too controlled and regular? Perhaps you need to let things fall apart a little. When a rigid system breaks up, there can be a tremendous release of creativity. The man on the Seven of Cups is amazed by all the options he has. On the other hand, if you are in a chaotic situation, some tightening may be necessary. No one is happy and productive in a crazy environment. Regularity gives structure to life. Taken to an extreme, the looseness of the Seven of Cups can lead to harmful patterns of decadence, addiction and self-indulgence. Sometimes the laziness applies to your thoughts and dreams. It is easy to wish for something, but not so easy to make that wish come true. When you see this card, make sure that you are backing up your plans with work and effort. Tighten up your life and commit yourself to doing what it takes to reach your goals … even if it means (sigh) cleaning house.”
3. I’ve had the 4 of pentacles a lot recently. I tend to look at as a need for security; be it personal, relational, financial, etc. As a root cause of the situation, this makes sense to me. Do you want the security of a strong primary relationship vs the (what seems to me) insecurity of the LDRs?
4. The Devil indicates ignorance, an unproductive situation. Has something happened recently that has made you start re-evaluating your romantic situation?
5. possible outcome… 7 of wands… you’re going after what you want. Taking a stand.
6. The Daughter/Page of cups speaks to an opportunity for love, relationships, something to happen. In the immediate future position, it seems to be something that could happen soon.
7. You’re the king of wands – passionate, willing to take opportunities when they’re presented to you… which seems like a good thing considering the near future. You’re going for what you want.
8. Your environment: The Queen of wands seems to thrive in busyness. Here’s what Learn Tarot says about her: ” Her life is full and busy, and she prefers it that way. She loves to be going and doing. She keeps up this pace because she is radiantly healthy and fit. She is often a good athlete, being naturally strong and coordinated. Although she’s never arrogant, the Queen of Wands has a deep faith in her own abilities. Her quiet self-assurance comes from the knowledge that she can accomplish whatever she sets her mind to.” Also, maybe your potential person is like the queen of wands and is someone already in your sphere of relationships or environment? I mean, the King and Queen are connected.
9. 5 of wands in your hopes and fears position is interesting. Are you worried that your won’t get what you want? That everything/everyone is working at cross purposes to your relationship goals?
10. Outcome: 8 of wands. Putting things into motion. News. Something will happen soon, a beginning or an ending. Maybe you’ll get some news that will push everything forward in the direction you want to go.
With all these wands, it seems like there’s a lot of potential passion and action. I’d pay close attention to whatever the 7 of cups is referencing – this is blocking your situation. Otherwise. It seems pretty positive? Though I don’t have the Collective deck, so some of my interpretations may be off.
What have you gotten? Did any of this help?
Getting a lot of the same suit in a reading happens. It just means that there is a lot of that energy present. Here, I would say there’s a lot of passion and active energy–action.
I agree with everything Potter said about the reading. But I will add my own two cents. This is what I see:
Rachel recently posted a Celtic Cross reading. I wasn’t all that familiar with this spread because I just don’t do it, but I learned that there are many different card positions and ways to interpret this spread. I dont have your deck but I believe there is a good book that comes with it. I wonder if they include the CC and give info. on interpreting it with this deck. One way is to read the cards in pairs, which I think is a kind of natural thing to do. The Two of Cups and the Seven of Cups both reference that this is an emotional situation. The Two speaks to a desire for union, while the seven speaks to all of your choices. Perhaps the choice feels overwhelming. The Seven of Wands and the Four of Pentacles would be read together. The Seven of Wands speaks to the passion of the situation and desire for action, just look at that wand that is on fire (your heart &/or body), and again the seven relates to choices but there is also a hint at illusion in the Sevens. (It would be interesting to see what you LWN says about Sevens in this deck.) Whereas The Four of Pentacles relates to a desire (or need) to create some structure out of all of that heat from the Wands. The Devil would be read with the Daughter of Cups. Here’s where some CC spreads differ. The Devil can be seen to represent the past…or something else. Sometimes I feel that only the querent can really understand certain things about a reading, and I sort of get that from these two cards. But, it could be seen as having been tied to unproductive behavior. The Major Arcana cards often refer to larger life patterns or events. This may have been a reoccuring issue for you. But now possibly the thing to do is to pause for a moment and let yourself experience the present (Daughter of Cups). Allow yourself the distance to see the rainbow of options that are in front of you and to see how they reflect on the water, how they make you feel deep inside. The swan is a baby, you have to go back to the beginning/basics to do this. That’s all I have time for right now. I hope that helped.
Oops, LWB not LWN.
Oh, & re. Daughter of cups–pause and experience without the need to act right away.
Also, re. The Devil: afraid of being “tied down”?
Wow, Kryst! What an amazing reading. Don’t be skeptical about all the wands – just be prepared for a rollercoaster :-)
I see The Devil – some unhealthy behaviour patterns – passing out of your life at this time and the Daughter of Cups – a whole new emotional perspective and a commitment to learning to do things differently – coming in…which is beautiful – we all could learn to do relationships better, and this is like your heart is opening right up. Underneath it all is this real need for stability and to protect yourself – the Four of Pents often means greed but more often is about keeping a grip on your resources…not saying yes to everything or giving yourself away completely but holding something back to you – handy advice if yr doing poly! The Six of Swords too, says you are in a time of transition and it’s okay to be careful with yourself right now.
The Seven of Wands says you’re a leader and an activist – fighting for what’s right, and then you have the Father and Mother totally showing how damn GOOD you are at that. So I really feel that there’s an ethics thing here – the Seven of Wands is you shining out your ethical standards within poly and in life generally – and you have a reputation for this.
It’s a beautiful reading.
Hey y’all! Sorry I’ve been away and not able to reply to your feedback. Work has been crazy this past week.
@Potter, I was using learntarot as well, so a lot of my interpretations were in line with yours. For the Four of Pentacles, I focused mostly on the desire for control and structure. I saw The Devil as an indication that maintaining my LDRs was not necessarily making me happy or helping me to reach my future family goals. I’m not sure if anything directly is happening that set this off, but I am feeling like I’m holding myself back by staying in the cycle. I guess that’s where the Five of Wands comes into play, because I don’t necessarily feel like I can have one and the other(s). Having my cake and eating it too is a lousy analogy, but that’s the closest I’ve got.
Thanks as well to @Elizabeth and @Beth. :) These are the CC positions you asked for from my card’s deck.
