I love tipping the velvet by Sarah Waters. I’ve also read oranges aren’t the only fruit, which to me was quite strange but I guess if it’s in your library, give it a go.

Oranges Aren’t the Only Fruit is an interesting read – Winterson has a different way of writing but it’s powerful nonetheless. Give it a try.

Another great YA lesbian novel is Keeping You a Secret. Also a bit sad, but it’s pretty good. Not as well written as Annie on My Mind, though.

Oh, and ASH by Malinda Lo. It’s a lesbian retelling of Cinderella!

I went to this event last year and all I can say is, you do not want to miss this. It was an absolute blast and my favorite part of Pride. The group of girls that are organizing it are dynamite and hello? Jello wrestling?

Not specifically lesbo, but the Feminist Book Club at Bluestockings might fill that void.

I’m a huge fan of just about everything Catherynne Valente writes, poetry or prose. I got one of her poetry books recently, A Guide to Folktales in Fragile Dialects, and it was brilliant. It explores and reinterprets women’s roles in folktale motifs. It’s more fun than I make it sound, I swear ;)
