Did you guys read the Autostraddle post about the book Persistence: All Ways Butch and Femme? They’re having an event/a reading in Toronto on May 17.
Anyone going? (Sorry for hijacking.)
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=159673497427323Also, just curious, anyone know how to skateboard? How much does an adult skateboard cost?

MEETUP INFO:
This Saturday 14 May 2011
Where do you peeps want to eat/hang out? Discuss!-
I’ve a 51% probably of going… I’m in Brampton but can go downtown. I’m terrible at suggesting places. I don’t know why…
…Toronto Eaton Centre? -
I am not a guru of downtown places as evinced by my post below but for fooding, Sin & Redemption on McCaul just south of UofTcampus is a nice pub, has a great beer list, pretty good noms and an awesome name. (It is also across the street from a church. That made me love it a lot. Haha.)
-
Purrrfect! 8pm sound good?
-
Great. See you there :)
-
-
Before, at St Michael’s Cathedral, on the announcements paper they give out, one of the ads was:
“GO TO CHURCH
South of Bloor
SPIRITS
Bar & Grill”Darn it’s not convenient for me to go tomorrow but have fun everyone
:-3

-
I’m down but I’m from msaug so I’d probably be horrible at suggesting places. All I know really is the Hotbox Cafe haha :S
-
Ah can’t make it for 8, Jason Bonham’s playing tonight! Have fun you guys :P

Hey all!
I figure the whole point of this kind of site is to be able to meet people so I live in the Annex and am usually found dancing it up somewhere on the weekend.
I don’t have any friends on here so add me up. I’m all about meeting new people. -

I’m from Mississauga, but it’s close enough to Toranna. If all goes well, I’ll be leaving the ‘burbs by the end of the year, fingers crossed!

ok this is maybe a silly question but where are the popular hangout spots in toronto for girls who like girls? i’ve wandered down church st a few times but it was pretty quiet. i’m a big newb when it comes to downtown TO even after 7 months of living in its near vicinity :(
-
I don’t know myself, but Church St. is more of a gay men’s place. Apparently Slack’s is a lesbian place.
Queen St. West is also known as Queer St. West…
Go Craigslist? Whole Foods Market?-
oops. i didn’t know that, but it makes sense! thanks for the tips. lol whole foods

There are a couple of queer womens events. Try Yes Yes Yall and cherrybomb, both monthly events. They are a club atmosphere but clothing is more casual than straight clubs. Slacks is a lesbian bars, crews is both.
if you don’t like that kind of thing try volunteering or sports, there is softball (theres a lesbian softball team) rainbow hoops, and…[Read more] -
Solution: auT.O.straddle meetup! Comment on the next thread up ^^ and we’ll figure this shit out. I’m personally lacking lesbi-friends and must remedy the situation immeds. kthx

If any of you like comics, the Toronto Comic Arts Festivals is this weekend. Free! One of their events is the TCAFabulous: Queer Mixer on May 7. “Queer comic book fans unite!”
If I only read (queer) comics!

I saw that and was considering attending if some miracle happens and I can get out of work early.
depends what board you get. Are you just looking for a deck?
Um, a regular starter skateboard for a newbie? Nothing fancy and nothing that will break and scar me. I don’t want to make a big investment in case I really suck and want to give up, but I’d want to keep it as a footstep.
Does that make sense? :-s
Haha yup I know where you’re coming from. Basically if you want to spend $100 or less it’s best to just check out Craig’s List bc there are actually quite a few good used ones there. Just make sure you ask what the size is (check what size you are online – it’s based on height). If you want GOOD advice then I’d suggest going into a place like West…[Read more]
Thanks. I saw some postings and pics on CL. I think I’ll buy a new one. I don’t mind used items but I don’t think I can trust my life to a used skateboard (the pics I saw, the skateboards looked beaten down!).
The learning aspect, is it okay? I want to try skateboarding as a childhood do-over (darn intense wobbly feel that I hate).
Yeah that initial wobbly feeling is kinda shitty haha. I actually did the same as you, never skated as a kid but Rodney Mullen makes it look like art so I thought I’d give it a try. After a couple sessions up and down the street you’ll get the hang of it so I’d say the learning process is pretty quick. Also, even though you may or may not look…[Read more]
I bought a longboard online! The AS post of the video of the longboarding girls won me over.
I’ll get to test it out in a month when I get my hands on it. I’m gonna suck major ass…
Thanks for the advice! :-3
