Hi there…I am new to DC from the lovely PNW as well! so perhaps I don’t have the best recommendations being a newbie as well, but I live in Petworth where I think there are a handful of queers, but I’ve heard maybe Logan Circle is better? I think either spot the commute to College Park is about 45 minutes via public transport.

  we were looking at petworth as a potential option. do you like it there? how are you liking DC so far? logan circle seems to be pretty expensive. we need to be as budget-conscious as possible since she will be a low-income student.
