Genderstraddlers 12 years agoHey y’all,
I know it’s a little tacky to self-promote, but I thought some of you folks might be interested in this blog I started recently: http://sanscarte.tumblr.com/It’s called “sans carte” (“without a map”) because a) I love maps b) I’m a big ol’ nerd and c) I write about what it’s like venturing off the standard map of gender, sexuality,…[Read more]

I’ve tried 4 or 5 times to be a vegetarian but the most I have lasted is 7 days..any tips?

Watch Earthlings, it’s streaming online at earthlings.com. It always helps.
What are you slipping up with?
-
I always slip when I am in a hurry and have class for the next 4-5 hours and just need something fast.

Plan ahead–pack some snacks in your bag (trail mix, nuts, lara bars or other types of bars, primal strips, whatever), have ingredients for PB&J or some other easy to make meal at home, and figure out what the nearby veg options are out. You can do it!

In a rush is tough, but I give myself the option of…[Read more]

Then I started reading some different books about all the horrible crap in so much of our food, meat included. First I stopped eating all processed foods which cut…[Read more]

For me, it was really helpful to have friends/roommates who went vegan at the same time, slightly earlier really. We could work together in figuring out good places to eat. Maybe see if there’s some sort of vegetarian club in your area/ at your school, and if not there are tons of online communities.
I also ate a ton of convenience foods, like…[Read more]

Genderstraddlers 12 years agoYay for this group! I talk about gender all the time, and usually my friends just patiently endure my ranting until it’s over.
