I’m going to be backpacking through Europe for a couple of months in 2013. For those of you who have traveled throughout Europe, what kind of advice can you provide? Flying in and out of Germany, traveling to the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy and Austria.

where is your flight going?in which city are you gonna start your trip? when is your trip?summer?winter?…I’m a german who has lived in sweden and is living in austria….and I#ve seen ALL THE PLACES…well no,thats not really true but I do like to travel and would like to share my wisdom

my advice to learn to ride a bike prior if you don’t know how. In Belgium, I loved Gent and Antwerp, Brussels is ok. But if you must see Brugge (which I don’t think is as good as Ghent) don’t do more than a day. Rotterdam’s kunsthall was great if you’re into art too.   I appreciate the advice! I do know how to ride a bicycle. I’m planning on buying a rail pass to travel from country to country. It seems as though the GO PASS is a great deal in most larger cities where there are many sights to see. What is your favorite European city?

    In Belgium? Ghent.
    
    From the countries you’ve listed, probably Amsterdam, but I haven’t travelled too extensively.
