Columbine by Dave Cullen, 413 pg. (@internrachel, @julia1)
I just finished it this morning, and yeah, KIND OF A DOWNER. I may just top off with “We Need to Talk About Kevin” for the feeling of the most feelings you can feel at once, aka despair. But it seriously an awesome book, so well-researched, and it will probably make you cry. I learned lots of important things about psychopathy and the State of America Today with the Religion and the Guns. Reeeaaaaad iiiiiiiiit.

    • oooh, I’ve been wanting to read that book! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.

    • i have read this. it’s hard but if anyone works with teens or has a teenager in their lives (or IS a teenager), you need to read it.

i saw it happen on live TV. i needed to know more, to try and find out “why.” this helped.

      • Like I mean, Cullen was definitely a little too free in assigning feelings that the killers may not have had (especially during the reconstruction of the shooting), but it’s clear from what they left behind that Klebold and Harris were very, very mentally ill. I think the most important part of the book was its portrayal of the media as an active participant in shaping a story, despite all factual evidence.
