Muslim Women Define Their Own Identities and Shatter Stereotypes on this Powerful Online Art Exhibit

here is an exhibit that i saw recently. i would only consider it queer insomuch as queerness coincides with innovation and boundary-breaking, but of course in spite of minimal conversation about sexuality, it does create artist-viewer dialogue at least with queer feminine image making. like mobility (e.g. cycling, driving), being in control of one’s own image making helps shatter surrounding prejudices, and especially with regard to islam i find it relevant, as islam suffers much from the assumption by non-muslims that all muslims are of homogeneous image.
the online component interestingly creates a sense of access due to the freedoms associated with the net, yet the exhibit will only be posted until the end of the year, which creates a fleeting timespace with which to interact with the art.
