Tri- & Du- Atheletes, Marathoners, Cyclists, Runners, Exercisers in general! 12 years, 3 months ago
So far only running (training for my first half marathon in October), but hope to get into cycling one day when I have money for a bike (I keep choosing France over income), until then indoor biking it. Getting back into swimming, hoping my teaching assignment for next year is in a city with decent public pools!
any advice for getting ready for…[Read more]

For your first long race, I’d suggest the usual.. Don’t start out too fast, even though it seems like everyone else is hauling, just stick to the pace you know will get you through.
I learned, on my last race, not to depend on the water supplies of the race hosts. They only had water stations every 2.5 miles! So if you can, stash a water bottle…[Read more]-
Thanks for the Clif bar suggestion, I’ll definitely have to try those before I go for the half! I got another brand from a friend, it wasn’t GU but it was GROSS (luckily I didn’t try it mid race).
I get the advice on socks- I definitely drove 6 miles across town for another of my favorite pair before I left for France for the year. I almost…[Read more]

Ohhh! Canada 12 years, 3 months agoHi Canadians. I’m a Kiwi with Canadian Citizenship. I hope to move there end of this year. So, I hope this isn’t an annoying/repeated question but could anyone tell me if there is a big difference in job opportunities etc between Vancouver and Toronto? Originally I wanted to move to Montreal but that’s impossible to find work in if you are not…[Read more]

I guess it really depends on what your looking for, as far as I know there probably isn’t that much of a difference. If you just want to do food service/coffee shop type deal you should be fine, because THAT ACCENT OMG.
Toronto is a lot more urban/hard core but it is the place for theatre for sure. Although vancouver has a pretty thriving theatre…[Read more]-
Thanks for the reply, affirmation is also gratefully recieved. Perhaps I’ll just flit gayly from one city to the other and find out for myself. Montreal is winning atm just because of proximity to friends in NY. And NY. Have fun in Oz! I’ll be there soon, too! (Melbourne :) ). I’m sure you and your accent will have a wonderful time!

Welcome to Boston! My favorite gay-ish events are Queeraoke at Midway Cafe, the Heroes party at TT the Bear’s (every Saturday) and GirlSpot, which is a guerrilla takeover of a straight bar by lesbians (happens on the last Saturday of every month). Also, this is a shameless plug, but I write a weekly blog post on queer-friendly events around Boston…[Read more]
Sweet! Thanks Carrie! If I see you out somewhere I’ll say hey. I appreciate it!
if you’re looking for non-clubby places i would recommend ula cafe in jp and diesel in somerville. grab a yummy sandwich look at yummy queers.
