Autostraddle Summer Book Club 2011 12 years ago @internrachel @julia1 Is the book club over? Anyway I finished On the Road by Jack Kerouac (304 pages), I liked it for all the reasons everyone likes it and hated the misogyny/homophobia.
Also just finished Lost in Shangri-La: A True Story of Survival, Adventure, and the Most Incredible Rescue Mission of World War II by Mitchell Zuckoff (400 pages). This was about an airplane full of soldiers and female army personnel that crashed in the mountains of Dutch New Guinea during WWII and how they are rescued. I’m a sucker for historical non-fiction so I loved it. My favorite part was learning all about how WWII was fought in the South Pacific because I didn’t really know much about it before.
also I read both these books before August 31st so I hope they get counted! Thanks ladies!
