Beatlemaniacs 12 years, 2 months ago Favorite Beatles album and song?
Mine are Sgt. Pepper and A Day in the Life.
(I know Pepper is the cliche answer but it’s true, that album blew my mind and is the one that made me want to become a composer.)
Revolver is my favorite album, because idk it’s just a great album. Favorite song is a tie between A Day in the Life, and Helter Skelter.
A DAY IN THE LIFE FUN FACT: John brought in like the London Orchestra and made all of them wear masks, like penguin or monkey or something. Then he made them play something like every note from lowest to highest on their instrument for that part in the middle and end.
SECOND FACT: That big piano note at the end? That was something like 20 pianos at the same time. They took every piano in Abbey Road studios and brought it into one room. They had everybody including a couple janitors play that one chord at the same time and let it resonate for ever.
You might have already known this, but I had to be the know it all.
Why no, I don’t have too much time on my hands.
i like rubber soul best, but not by much, and my fav song is probs you never give me your money. im trying to avoid going into a super serious analysis decision here because i really cant decide on either category.
I love both those too, YNGMYM is such an underrated song. Fun fact – I went to a Paul McCartney concert in 2002 where he forgot the words to that song!
I knew that except for the masks but that’s because I am totally obsessed with that song, also Alex Ross (classical music critic for the New Yorker + my favorite music writer ever) had a blog post about it a while back: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/alexross/2010/02/the-beatles-and-the-avant-garde.html
Also I love Helter Skelter so much, I hate that it’s been tainted forever by the Manson association.
