The Great Library of Autostraddle 11 years, 10 months agoYou guys, I just finished Middlesex and why didn’t anyone tell me it was so good???
-
He just wrote a new book. It’s supposed to be ammaaaaazing
-
I’ve heard. It is definitely on my to-read list. I loved The Virgin Suicides and now Middlesex so It’s likely I’ll feel the same way about The Marriage Plot. Hopefully, anyway.
-
I loved Middlesex but I thought The Marriage Plot was meh. But you probably already know what I think about it since I wrote a review about it for this site lol.

The Great Library of Autostraddle 11 years, 10 months agoI just finished reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Franzen and it was so good. Imaginative, a really sweet/funny narrator, and cleverly written and designed. It’s a bittersweet story about fathers and 9/11 and being a child in a big city.
-
hey isn’t that Jonathan Safran Foer? I loved that book! Have you read Everything is Illuminated?
-
ha yep got the name wrong!. Sorry Jonathan! I just loved the book. I haven’t read Everything is Illuminated yet, but it’s on my list.
-
-
Oh my goodness, I’m reading this right now and I’m in love with it! It’s already made me cry a few times. And Everything is Illuminated is super good – I’ve been making all my friends read it, haha. Jonathan Safran Foer is seriously talented.

The Great Library of Autostraddle 11 years, 10 months agoDIRT: The Quirks, Habits, and Passions of Keeping House is a collection of essays edited by Mindy Lewis about peoples’ (mostly women’s) relationships with dirt/cleaning. Some of the essays are funny, some are more poignant, and some of them exactly describe my feelings about grime. Also, I think you are guaranteed to find at least one essay that…[Read more]

The Great Library of Autostraddle 11 years, 11 months agoI’ve finished a lot of books this week!
I just finished ‘The Elegance of the Hedgehog’ by Muriel Barbery today. This was among my prizes for coming in second in the Autostraddle summer book club and I lucked out! It was very good. A very solitary concierge in a building full of very rich people works hard to present an image of stupidity and…[Read more]

yep.
whats your hometown, fellow german?
hey!
I live near Nürnberg in Bavaria. where are you from?
I’m from Hamburg but I live in Vienna at the moment.
I love Vienna! It’s got so many great museums – I study art history, so I’m kind of a nerd when it comes to art museums …
Did you move there because of university/a job?
yes. Es herrscht kulturelle Reizüberflutung in dieser Stadt:) so many things to do and see…so it’s probs the art historians paradise
yep,I moved here for university… I study literature
but nürnberg is very beautiful itself…and has quite a lot of culture to offer hasn’t it. went there as a kid and really liked it:)
Totale Reizüberflutung! I’ve only been to Vienna once for about a week and there was just so much I wanted to see that I had a really hard time making up my mind …
Literature, nice – why did you decide to study in Austria, not Germany?
Oh yes, Nürnberg can be very lovely as well! Though I’m afraid most tourists come here for the Christkindlesmarkt ; )
Hi Svenja :) and Lina….I am here in Dresden, would love to make friends….
Hi fellow German-residents! I live in Munich now, after five years in Berlin.
yay.germany represent!
Moin aus Kiel in den Süden :)
