I was wondering if there are any straddlers here who could give me some advice on longboarding, I was considering taking it up and im not sure what to go for, for my first board. atm im torn between a santa cruz land shark or a pintail. im going to be using it mainly just for riding around but I want one that’s reasonably versatile in terms of where I can ride it.

    • Hi there! I’m going to be honest here, I haven’t heard great things about Santa Cruz boards. (In other words, they’re crap.) When you say that you plan on using it for “just riding,” do you mean cruising around? No downhill action I assume? And you probably won’t be dancing or doing a lot of tricks, right?

Have you heard of Bustin boards? If you want something super comfy and easy to push, I’d choose their Maestro. The board is great for commuting and just running around on. The Maestro was my first board and I still love it. It’s low to the ground, so you can push it for miles! You can also customize the graphics on their boards, which is cool. They have a lot of great stuff to choose from, so check them out!

Loaded has some pretty fun boards for just riding around on too.

      • Hey :) I only recently checked my emails so ive only just read this and in between then and now I went and got myself a Mindless rogue board, they haven’t got a reputation for being the greatest of boards but apparently they’re ok if you’re only just starting out, and it wasn’t too expensive as I didn’t want to spend too much if it turns out longboarding isn’t my thing. However you’ve described pretty much what I plan on using it for so I still apprciate the advice :) i’ll keep them in mind if I decide to change my board (Y)
