I did this backwards and watched the film before reading the book. I liked both! Some of the more interesting parts were only in the book, like the aftermath of Chris’s death. I’m not sure what to make of this quote, though:

I think I would have to listen to the soundtrack while reading the book because Eddie Vedder did such an amazing job with it that I can’t imagine Chris’ story without the music.

i tried to like this book but the main character just made me so mad. who thinks they can survive in alaska without preparation and the proper equipment!!! grrr

I bought it over a year ago at a spoken word thing, where she mostly did spoken word (so, not just her reading from her book), and made me cry in my little folding chair.
