So, let’s talk! I’m a scenic artist and I’m graduating from college in a week and a half and I’m going to be spending the next year interning and apprenticing in Connecticut. Yay for not having to go home and live in my parent’s attic!
What do you all do?

Baltimore / D.C. Autostraddlers! 12 years, 6 months agoLooking for summer employment or internship, any such thing available ?
-
Entry level summer job. I am History major with broad interests but a hard worker.
-
if you don’t need a paid internship/are okay with working part time starbucks part time internship I recommend looking for internships at the Smithsonian, the museums (NMNH, NMAH) could generally use interns in desk type work and stuff that may not necessarily pertain to your degree but look super good on a resume.

Anybody else stalk Feministing as much as I do?
-
I do! it’s my homepage currently. One of my profs was on the Feministing Five so I started following then and have been hooked! Agreed that it can be a total downer…
-
Thats so cool that one of your professors was featured! I definitely agree that Feministing can only be taken in small doses. When I first discovered it I totally had a Feministing overload and couldn’t deal with reading it for months afterward. Still love them though. :)

Oh I love Feministing, it’s really good for short bites of info, rather than massive weighty posts. Do you know Feministe as well? That’s another great site.
-
and if you’re looking more for a gossip magazine version, jezebel is usually entertaining.
AND if you’re into sociology, thesocietypages.org usually has awesome gender/sexuality related posts PLUS loads of other topics.-
Not so into gossip so I never gained an appreciation for Jezebel. But thesocietypages.org is my absolute FAV. I will occasionally browse Feministe.

I haven’t read feministing much, but Shakesville is good and on a more snarky note Pandagon is brilliant.

An awesome piece about Joanna Russ, one of the very first woman sci-fi writers who died recently. Why do you only learn about great people when they’re dead? #irony
