Hey, I just commented this on Annika and Sebastian’s recent post, but maybe y’all have some ideas: What do you think is the best way to respond to transphobic harassment? I’m butch/genderqueer and have heard “are you a guy” or “is that a boy or a girl” from strangers several times recently, and I always struggle with how or if to respond.…[Read more]

Yes, yes, yes. I remember watching that storyline for the first time and being cool with it, and then thinking about their characters on Buffy and then going, “wait… CORDELIA and ANGEL??!! ”
Fred is the best. -
I really liked the idea of Cordelia/Angel more than the actual execution. I always thought they would (should) have been great together because they were also very good friends, whereas I never thought Buffy and Angel had a damn thing in common (other than the evil fighting) and I was never sure if they liked or even knew each other as people,…[Read more]

I went to a queer fashion show on Wednesday and there were some really great designers there that are making masculine clothing for female and FTM bodies. Marimacho was my fave of the night. Here’s a list of the designers and my reviews of them:…[Read more]

Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 3 months agoLast Friday I went to a midnight showing of Serenity at the art house theatre in St. Louis. I’ve already watched it online a billion times and I assume everyone else there had too. Throughout, I talked loudly about how hot all the women in the movie were. I thought it would be a thing. It wasn’t. I had fun anyway.

Browncoats, Scoobies & other Whedonites 12 years, 3 months agoI’ve been rereading the comics and came here to go on a rage about something, but I don’t want to spoil anything for Susanna, so I’ll just be vague and say this: the letters in issue #24 about issue #12 still make me SO ANGRY.

Fellow Bostonian butch here! I don’t really have advice, but I do have empathy, as I encountered a situation like this during Pride this year. I was told by a transwoman “if you ever decide to actually transition into being a man instead of just dressing like one, you’ll find that life is harder.” It was so dismissive and assuming and generally…[Read more]
Yeah, that’s generally how I responded to sexual harassment as a teenager, back when I was still trying to pass as feminine, and it’s honestly my instinctive response to any kind of aggressive harassment. Because you’re right, people tend to back off if you fight back–usually even a firm “fuck you” is enough.
But sometimes I just get kinda…[Read more]
