I would have probably hated it. But I am kind of sad that I never got to see it at all.

yeah, I feel like I could have distanced myself from my love of wonder woman and perhaps appreciated it for another quality, but it looked pretty bad. I’m just sad there seems so be so few opportunities for her upstairs you know? they made thor (albeit marvel) and green lantern films which are less well known heroes but wonder woman gets no love.

I’m pretty relieved. Wonder Woman has an image problem already (in terms of being the only big name gal super and one of the top three heroes in DC’s universe, but never quite making it as big as Supes or Bats). I also have feelings re: David E. Kelley. I really like him. Or rather, the shows he makes. However, Wonder Woman strikes a balance between female empowerment and sexual objectification, and I really don’t trust Kelley to manage that well.

I only know Danger Mouse because Allison Weiss plays bass for them sometimes. I’m going to change that right now.

Wait. This is a different Danger Mouse, and that band is called Field Mouse. I guess “mouse” is going to be the next big thing in band names like “wolf” used to be.

I have so many feelings about Austra. I was thrilled when that post popped up, because I’d been listening to the album on NPR over and over for probably about 12 hours.

Re: listening to it for 12 hrs on NPR, that is exactly what I am doing. My dissertation has gone by the wayside. I’m trying to think of what to compare it too, maybe Florence + the Machine gone New Wave, but it’s really in a class of its own. I can’t wait to…[Read more]

You are probably right! I haven’t really listened to it b/c I’m not an American (which is not a reason at all now that I think about it), but I definitely will from now on.

Yup, I first heard them on an NPR podcast called All Songs Considered. It was an episode of music they liked from SXSW. I’ve since unsubscribed because a lot of the time they play dumb indie boy bands that all sound the same. But Austra was a great find!
