I dabble in epee and am mostly likely about to change as I’m moving overseas to live with a bunch of them. I’ve won a few state champs and competed a bit in it.
No I haven’t but I have seen the horrific pretend fencing in like James Bond and the Parent trap and what not… the other day upon finding out there are 3 weapons in fencing asked me what kind they are watching in TV & movies and I didn’t even know what to say, it’s usually some epee looking horrible mix between that and foil. Unless it’s Lost and Delirious…
yeah, me and my friend (she’s a sabre) have a habit of sending each other the worst/most wrong fencing we can. i think the most common misconception by tv/movie people is that fencers keep their blades SHARPENED TO KILL.
when people tell ask me what weapon they fight on tv/in movies i say either ‘usually eepfoilbre’ or ‘WRONG THAT IS NOT FENCING WRONGWRONG’
