We Love Documentaries 12 years, 5 months agoEveryone should check out Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. Whether you loved or hated his work, this is an interesting look at his life and death. It’s currently streaming on Netflix, so little to no effort involved in accessing it.

We Love Documentaries 12 years, 5 months agoHave y’all seen ”Busting Out”? It’s kind of an old one, but so interesting. It’s about our nation’s obsession with breasts as sexual objects. Thesis is basically that breasts as sexual objects is a social construction – it isn’t present in every society. Well done and very interesting!

(sorry if you get two emails for this, I deleted a comment w/ a typo and then posted this)-

We Love Documentaries 12 years, 5 months agoI watched Earthlings’ trailer. I can’t get out of my head the skinned dog… Is it worth watching the whole thing ? I’m interested by the topic but I don’t want to have nightmares for weeks !
-
I just watched the whole thing a couple of days ago. It’s very disturbing but worth it. I don’t have a strong stomach for that kind of stuff at all but I made it through it. The skinned dog is definitely the worst part of the whole film in my opinion. I did have emotional outbursts for the rest of the day for seemingly silly things which I think…[Read more]

We Love Documentaries 12 years, 5 months agoThis is kind of a “duh” rec, but I wasn’t born yet when Ken Burns’ documentary “The Civil War” aired and hadn’t heard of it until recently even though it’s apparently super famous. I just watched it a few weeks ago and I absolutely loved it.
