Also Working On It 8 years, 3 months agoI have an injury (a burn on my left underarm related to my radiology), any suggestions of exercises to do that don’t involve moving arms very much?
Leg exercises, I guess? (But even squats and stuff involve moving your arms more than you realise until you have an injury!)

Also Working On It 8 years, 3 months agoI made a Strava group for us! https://www.strava.com/clubs/150735
It lets you input your workouts (can be anything, not just running or wtv). Good for cheering each other on, coordinating virtual group workouts and fun run-walks, and keeping track of your own workouts. I’ve only used it a few weeks but I like it so far.
E-mail sign-in; does not…[Read more]

Also Working On It 8 years, 3 months agoWhere my vegans at? :D
I’ve been vegan for about a month. I have questions about protein, and also what fb groups you like for vegan athletes.

Hi! I’m a vegan, and for protein I eat a lot of beans and brown rice (somehow combining the two completes the proteins…I read it in a vegan cooking article once.) My step dad was Guatemalan and taught me.his family’s amazing black bean recipe, so I make this all the time. It can be eaten as soup or cooked down inton refried beans. I also love…[Read more]

Thanks Kari. High-five to being vegan. I agree beans and rice are great. I was wondering about something I’d heard about bioavailability of vegetable vs animal protein. This link (somewhere lol) said that vegetable protein is harder to digest than animal protein, so vegans have to eat more to get the same net benefit compared to an omnivore. I…[Read more]

I can’t say that I’ve heard anything like that about protein. One of my favorite books is ‘Green for Life’ by Victoria Boutenko, who is a raw vegan expert and this particular book of hers addresses greens. In it she talks about chimps and humans being biologically similar and how chimps eat mainly greens (along with fruit and the occasional…[Read more]

Also Working On It 8 years, 3 months agoI’ve been using beachbody’s Pilates/yoga workout called PiYo for 5-6 weeks and totally increasing my flexibility and defining my arms and core without the weird feelings I get during yoga about being happy and grateful and focus on breathing and peace. I want to be all zen but I’m just not, but I can touch my toes now!!!

Do you have access to a gym? When I was out with a shoulder injury I did a lot of stationary biking and leg machines (like thigh presses and calf raises etc). You can also do ab stuff like dish (http://www.crossfitignitesydney.com.au/fitness-and-training-tips/a-short-analysis-of-the-dish-hold) with your injured arm resting on your stomach/chest,…[Read more]
Yes I do have access to a gym – these are good ideas thanks!! :)
Well, if you can’t really move, standing and sitting around sounds like a perfect idea!
This guy teaches some of the basic stances of Taekwondo, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZYhVAmZ7N0 (couldn’t find a pretty lass on such short notice) and while he shows really great Love to the basic stances and walking, I’d recommend the one he describes…[Read more]
