@internrachel and @julia1 another brief break from ‘Sense and Sensibility’ (I will finish it this week!). Bought ‘Fun Home’ by Alison Bechdel, 232 pgs (but counts as 116 pgs, graphic novel y’all) today at the Strand because it was half price. So if you live in/near NYC and don’t already own it, its only $7 at the Strand! I’ve read it before, I had an ex who was into more contemporary graphic novels than I tend to be and she had me read it. It’s a story that’s difficult, funny, sweet and fascinating by turns. There’s such a sense of quiet in the book, I’m not sure how to explain it exactly. I think because it’s just sooo personal. The fact that it’s illustrated makes even more so. I just feel like she’s whispering the story in my ear, its really beautiful and I’m so glad I can read it whenever I want now!
