Autostraddle Summer Book Club 2011 12 years, 2 months ago Happy 4th @internrachel and @julia1 ! I finished reading Portrait of a Killer: Jack the Ripper Case Closed by Patricia Cornwell, 383 pgs, yesterday but I was relaxing by a lake with no internet reception. Ugh, I needed a break after reading it, not good at all! The case is definitely not closed; Cornwell went into the book with a suspect and fit all the evidence to him. It wasn’t poorly researched really, just poorly deduced. I was completely unconvinced of her conclusion, she seemed to prove that her suspect was probably very inconsiderate and possibly narcissistic but that’s all. There were many instances where she would write “I can’t prove he was at (this place at a specific time) but I also can’t prove he wasn’t.” It was a pretty frustrating read. Would not recommend, obviously.
