The Great Library of Autostraddle 12 years, 5 months agoHi friends, I’m looking for a lesbian author of color, who has written fiction preferably. Does anyone have any recommendations? It’s for my book club, trying to diversify it a bit.

Felicia Luna Lemus (San Francisco!), Jewelle Gomez (vampires!), Mayra Lazara Dole (Miami! Coming Out!), Malinda Lo (fantasy without dragons!) and more listed here: http://zahrawithaz.livejournal.com/12471.html

Seconding the Jewelle Gomez and Malinda Lo recs! If I recall correctly, Octavia Butler was a lesbian (but even if I’m wrong, you should read her because she is awesome!). that is SUCH a good book. Kingsolver is wonderful. :]
Yeah, I love it!
I didn’t completely love it, but I got a lot out of Poisonwood Bible. If you haven’t read earlier Kingsolver, The Bean Trees is lovely.
