So, in the past fortnight I moved to Europe and my relationship with someone I really love ended. On one hand it’s fun being here, but on the other I’m heartbroken and finding it hard to cope when I’m cut off from my support networks and overwhelmed by the newness of everything. Advice?

PLEASE HELP ME :'(! I think I posted on here earlier about being in love with my best friend, but now it has taken a whole new level. So, I have been in love with my best friend for almost two years now and I have always wondered if the feeling was mutual. It is just so fucking hard to tell if your best friend is IN love with you or if they just…[Read more]

for me personally sometimes I will ask someone out even if I know that they will say no just so my brain knows it’s 100% no and I need to stop thinking about them. Probably not always the smartest thing to do but for me it’s a way of moving on.
But I think you already know that you have no chance at this moment. I’d say hang on to the friendship…[Read more]

I agree with the above commenter that you shouldn’t spill the beans yet. Go out and meet other girls. You might feel as though you are in love with your best friend because you two and close and you spend a lot of time together. It doesn’t seem like you have let yourself fully experience other women yet. You might meet someone and connect with…[Read more]

Fencestraddlers 12 years, 2 months agoCan I just say how relieved I am to a. have finally bitten the bullet and made an autostraddle account and b. have found out that, ok, I’m not the only fencestraddling person reading, phew. Because I love autostraddle, but sometimes I feel like everyone on this site has always and only been into women and Always Known and I’m just like……[Read more]

I have felt more welcome and included here than in a lot of places elsewhere, really. :)

Yeah, I think AS tries to make the site bi-friendly. That doesn’t stop a few biphobic jerks from getting in, of course (and they tend to be most obnoxious on the threads about bisexuality), but I think the majority of people here are very supportive.

Suddenly my partner’s “supportive” family is looking pretty goddamn homophobic, and I have no idea what this means for our future. She is very close to them, and has let them emotionally berate her into submission her entire life…and so even though she recognizes it right now and is pissed and hurt about it, I worry that she won’t stay angry,…[Read more]

Join associations based on things you like doing. Good for instant bonding with new people who could turn out to be nice friends. Also: will keep you occupied and limit the time to worry about things. Like: join an athletics club, start running and do a 5K in 2 months. Take cooking classes and master a kitchen you were never very clever with.…[Read more]
Thank you Paloma… I want to respond in more detail but I’m about to crash, but I just wanted to say for the moment that I saw this and it was lovely and your advice is great.
