Autostraddle Musicians 12 years, 4 months agoDon’t know if anyone has heard about the Gibson Firebird X ”robot” guitar yet. I’m sort-of fascinated by synth/controller guitars and recently wrote a blog about them. If you’re interested in reading it: http://torontoima.com/new/music-blog/musicians-guitars-ipads/

Aargh you’ve made me want loads of stuff! That blog post is so cool, I’d never checked out the moog guitar before but its insane, I guess I was always put off the Manson guitars cos I’m not really a Muse fan but Kaoss pads are always fun…
As for the Firebird X – 3rd party apps and bluetooth pedals… whhuttt? Opens up so many possibilities, but i f…[Read more]

Frankly, I’m just thrilled you know what i’m talking about. The Manson guitars are really revolutionary compared to everything else on the market. I’m not a Muse fan either, but the quality of craftsmanship and integration is really amazing.
I haven’t demo’d a Firebird X yet, but I’ve watched a demo and I’m convinced it’ll have problems. I think…[Read more]

Ha yes I’m a big guitar/music tech geek.
I just watched a demo and I was pretty disappointed, the only thing I really love is the tuning thing (cos I use a lot of different tunings)Other than that, 1) the guy demo-ing it was super annoying
2) It doesn’t seem that easy to actually change effect parameters, you have to like click one knob twice,…[Read more]-
I think it’s definitely a guitar FROM WHICH great guitars will come out of, but I wouldn’t buy the Firebird X. 33 fuckin 5 all the way, I play a vintage crucianelli 335 it’s sweet http://www.fetishguitars.com/html/crucianelli/335/indexvox.html

As an entusiast of both playing the guitar and Dubstep, Bluetooth Guitars (specifically the XY pad) get me super EXCITANT.
Havent tried one out yet though. Probably should soon.-
Cool, Dubstep is really big in Ottawa, Canada from what I hear.

Autostraddle Musicians 12 years, 4 months agoYo yo yo, fellow lesborockers. I write a buncha sad things and then sing them while playing guitar in and around the Boston area — anyone up for a jam or a busk? It’s mostly the folksy singer/songwriter stuff…some alt rock feel and lots of queer covers in the mix. I like making friends. Also I have a fancy-schmancy “demo” for anyone’s listening…[Read more]

I need some advice… I’m booking a week off work in February to go on what I hope will be a great snowboarding trip, but I’m torn between Quebec and Vermont. Any recommendations?
-
Now you can’t take my word as expert advice, I’m only telling you what I have heard from snow-sporting friends and relatives, but I’d lean toward Quebec. It gets more natural snow, stays as powder for longer, and has a higher percentage of tricky slopes. I have also heard complaints about Vermont [specifically Killington and Smuggler’s] having…[Read more]

Hmm… A friend told me Stowe was kind of a bust the last time she was there. Plus, I’ve always had good luck in Quebec, so I’ll probably just plan to stick with a winner. Thanks for the feedback!
