@Emma2 – For me, it’s not that Ten had more gravitas, it’s that he had more angst. And way more shoutiness. I dunno, I guess that could count as gravitas, but it seemed like he was still healing from what he had to do during the Time War. Nine was super Survivor-Guilt-PTSD Guy, Ten was healed a bit…[Read more] -

Doctor Whovians 12 years, 4 months ago@romana – Yes, I love Mary Tamm too! I love Lalla Ward too, but Mary Tamm just had this great imperiousness to her. One of my favorite moments was from “Androids of Tara” (I think) where she was hanging off the cliff yelling “Help!” like she was just completely pissed off to have to be yelling for help and couldn’t believe she was in that…[Read more]

Fuck salads, you guys. We took my mom out to eat for Mother’s Day yesterday and the only thing I could eat on the entire menu was a salad, and then only if I told them to leave the chicken off. After complaining to our awesome waitress, they pieced together a veggie pasta dish just for me. Thanks awesome waitress and helpful cooks!
After 13…[Read more] -

Comics, Anyone? 12 years, 4 months agoOkay, for some reason the Reply button isn’t working for me, but I have things to say!
@Scarlett O – Ooh, ‘Y – The Last Man’ was so good! I have a massive crush on 355. As you can imagine, I sobbed through the last, like, three issues of that comic.
@Shannon – Wow, thanks for all the recs! That’ll keep me busy for a while, for sure. And I…[Read more]-
I just totally read through Y the Last Man too. It was so good! and it broke the fourth wall all the time! i love self-aware comics.
-
Do you like Deadpool? The most self aware, 4th wall breaking comic of all! Also, he’s HI-larious! They keep talking about making a Deadpool movie with Ryan Reynolds (who is perfect), and last I heard they had a script, but I’m so afraid it’ll fall through somehow.

i really, really wanna read deadpool now. i will look for issues at my local library.

Comics, Anyone? 12 years, 4 months agoMy people!
So I’m desperately in need of some good lezzie comics. I own the entire run of ‘Strangers In Paradise’ and ‘Runaways’ already. I have the ‘Magical Witch Girl Bunny’ tpb. What next?-
There’s a GREAT webcomic (with a few volumes in print!) called ‘Red String’, and it’s got some awesome lesbian characters in it. The art is great, the writing is stellar, it’s an ensemble cast and right now the lesbian characters are in the spotlight, and it’s EXCELLENT.
-
Ooh, thanks for the rec! The art is lovely and I’m going to get started reading right now :)
-
-
Awesome, I will have to check out Red String.
I love I was Kidnapped by Lesbian Pirates from Outer Space, another webcomic. It’s filled with so much campy retro goodness and also you can never have too many lesbian pirates. -
While it’s not a “lesbian comic” I’d have to recommend Brian K. Vaughn’s “Y: The Last Man.” All the world’s men, with the exception of one, are wiped out instantly by some sort of plague (won’t spoil it by giving away the cause). Sounds like a homolady’s dream, right? Actually, it turns out to be a less than dreamy scenario. And, no, not all the…[Read more]

OH MAN! Some great reccs so far, and you have SiP under your belt, but I will do my best to supply some lesser known, radical comics.
— Girlfiend Comics (http://www.girlfiendcomics.com/) is a fabulous comic…each update is a tiny story, and they’re quite creative and lovely.
— Ariel Schrag’s Potential (and all of her high school graphic…[Read more] -
Oh god! How could I have forgotten GwS?! It’s magnificent.

If you’re at all interested in DC comics, there’s Renee Montoya (check out the trades or download Gotham Central, 52, The Question: Five Books of Blood, and The Question: Pipeline) and Kate Kane (also in 52, Countdown, etc. with Renee; her big collection is Batwoman: Elegy and there’s an ever-delayed ongoing Batwoman title on the way) and Scandal…[Read more]

Ooh, thanks for the recs! It’s high time I branch out in to DC (beyond Vertigo, I mean). Now, all I need is some money….
As for Marvel lady lovers, I forgot all about one of my all time favorite comic characters: Mystique! She and Irene Adler were together for a very long time. Canon bi! Also, Xi’an Coy Manh (Karma) is a lezzie. She had…[Read more]

I’ve come to love eleven, but ten was my first so my heart belongs to him! :P
It’s true you never forget your first Doctor! Oh, Nine. How I miss you.
Ten was definitely my favorite, but Eleven is growing on me. It does help that his companion is so lovely.
Amy Pond is definitely cool (like bowties!!), but I really loved it when Ten and Donna clashed, they were an interesting pair.
Catherine Tate is brilliant, I agree. This clip is the best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxB1gB6K-2A
