I work at a restaurant where they will sometimes have Disney channel on for the owner’s kids. Today I caught a part of a show where a boy said to a female friend of his, something along the lines of, its a good thing I was raised by a woman so this irrational behavior doesn’t stump me.
We have a lot of work to do. -

Okay everyone, let’s hear your worse social anxiety stories! I’ll start!
Once I was invited to a birthday party and I drove up and down the road the house was on 4 times before I gave up and went home. Because I was stressed that the bottle of wine I had brought wasn’t good enough, and because I was late.-
At my best friends wedding, I spent the entire time on the balconey of the venue, alone…getting drunk.
-
The girl I was in love with, who also happened to be a student teacher at my high school, was working a carnival I was working. Her being there, as well as the hundreds of parents and children in a pretty small space, caused me to have a massive panic attack which ended in my being rushed to the ER because everyone thought I was having a seizure.
-
At my best friends wedding his sister wanted me to dance with her.I told her it wont look good if my friend sees us.She never spoke to me since then.
-
I spent approximately 50% of prom awkwardly trying to find my girlfriend, who had deemed me no fun and ditched me, and 40% reading in the corner…
-
My mother wanted me to call my doctor to ask about an appointment and I was scared and didn’t want to and she kept pushing me until I broke down crying. (I have gotten a wee bit better about this since I stopped living at home, but still, I just procrastinated for a week because I was nervous about calling my psychiatrist.)
-
Reading all these stories makes me feel a lot less alone and unusual. This same thing just happened to me…I had to call my doctor to switch my prescription and waited two weeks before I had the nerve to.
-
-
I was going to ask a girl out from my math class out to the state fair. So I made her a bag of candy and when I went to tap her on the shoulder it was more like a really hard push and my voice got really low so I just thrust the bag of candy in her hand and walked off but she said thank you. SMH

Getting high and drunk helps.
But that makes me feel all kinds of dysfunctional :/-
Getting drunk totally helps, I’m very friendly and way more outgoing when I have alcohol in me.
-
Yeah getting high makes me totally outgoing and also somewhat nonsensical, so I end up making an ass out of myself. But if I’m only a little high, then I’m apparently hilarious/sociable. Getting drunk just makes me even more shy cause I worry about looking like a drunken idiot.
-
Getting High makes me stupid and getting drunk removes the appropriate filter from my mouth
-
I came out (NOT planned) after a whole bottle of tequila at a New Year party. I second that motion…
-
-
drinking does help the anxiety as far as being social, but i can’t stop. & i’m an emotional drinker, so when i’m upset, that trigger sets off a binge. :(
-
I have never gotten drunk or high in my life (I don’t think getting buzzed counts). I find it kind of strange, but, I never plan on getting high, and would like to wait until I’m a legal adult to get drunk. I wonder if there’s anyone else here who hasn’t gotten high or drunk

*sigh* That is so disheartening. Speaking of upsetting things kids say, I’ve become pen pals with my cousin’s 9 year old daughter and in her last letter she wrote about the movies she likes to watch and said something about loving Pixar movies and being excited by adventures like that, but “I guess girls don’t do those things, so I’ll have to be…[Read more]
I saw a Disney movie recently where a boy was forced to participate in his dad’s baseball team, but by chance discovered that he loved to cook, and there were girls on the baseball team and they got told “You’re really one of the guys” and “You throw like a girl” and it all concluded with lots of angst but he chose the cooking competition over the…[Read more]
Somedays I wish that Walt Disney could be reincarnated as a girl to experience the Disney princess phenomenon for himself/herself/theirself.
