    hey ladies,

I’m planning to do a week in Scotland in April… I’m planning ahead so I can book it all. What good lesbian nights, etc. should I try/not miss? Also anything tourist and if you want to show me around I may be very grateful :)

    • If you’re in Glasgow on the third Friday in April then there’s a great night run by Lock Up Your Daughters! at the Flying Duck. It’s probably one of the better club nights I’ve been to. There’s Saturday Night Beaver that runs in Edinburgh, not 100% on the night but it’s monthly as well and generally at Cabaret Voltaire I think.

    • Second the recommendation to go to Lock Up Your Daughters! Also this if you’re about https://www.facebook.com/events/326864744039134/
Bongo Club in Edinburgh is great for some open minded fun
Have you booked the dates yet?

      • guys, does that mean there’s going to be a meetup at lock up yr daughters?

      • Hey thanks for your advice but I’m arriving on the 15th and leaving on the 20th :(

        • saturdat night beaver closed down! they replaced it with virgen which launched last saturday, but it wasn’t great. In Edinburgh the best gay places for girls are probably Planet bar and GHQ (which is really the only decent gay club, but it’s mixed) xx

  • hey British ladies,

I’m planning a week/week and a half travel up the UK,

Thinking maybe Bristol but most likely York, Leeds, Edinbrugh and Glasgow. Anybody have any advice on where are some good places (clubs/pubs) to go? Particularly in Scotland, coz I think I’d like to spend a weekend or something there.

  • Hey is anyone going to the CODE NYE party in London? I really want to go but have no one to go with :(

  • so i moved to London like 4 months ago and have only been able to make one gay friend, how did you find yours? Everyone says to do it online but it’s really difficult that way. If I talk to girls at a lesbian club or night i find they think i’m hitting on them. what should i do? where did you find your bros?

    • Hmmm that’s a really good question. Unfortch, no matter how you approach another lez she might think you are hitting on her. I would try maybe joining an athletic team, speaking to girls in bars/clubs, maybe scouting out a queer bookstore or a cafe in a queer neighborhood. Good luck!

    • The LGBT organization in my area has groups for various age groups and interests. You might see if you can find anything like that. I recently moved to a new area, and I’ve made several gay friends through that.

I work as a nanny. My six year old is constantly asking me to marry her.
Conversations we have go like this:
Me: Isn’t it cool that I give you a different hairstyle everyday?
    6yo: Yes… Can I marry you?

    out of the blue:
6yo: have you kissed someone on the lips?
    Me: errr…. yes.
    6yo: More girls than boys?
    Me: errr… yes.
    6yo: me too.

    6yo: are…[Read more]

Hey all looking for travel advice…
    1. Anyone know what the English is like in Italy, Spain or Germany?
2.Best places in Europe that I can get by with English?
    3. If you have been to a country that didn’t speak English (or another language that you are fluent in) how did you cope?

Just a memo being I’m planning to stay for 3 months so I’ll kind…[Read more]

    • I haven’t ever been in Europe for longer than a week or so, but in case you’re interested, the Netherlands is particularly good as (in my experience, anyway!) Dutch people do tend to know English. I also went to Berlin recently and most (though not all) people did speak English, at least a little.

      • I love the Netherlands! I want to learn Dutch and live there, everyone can speak English there and in Flanders!

    • Any metroploitan city in Europe will be fairly easy to navigate in English. English is the default international option, so any area catering to tourists will likely have a lot of English speaking people and signs.

I’ve lived abroad several times in countries where I did not speak the language and have never had big problems getting around or…[Read more]

    • I agree with the others, you shouldn’t have a problem. One thing you should do though, is try to learn the language — when I was last travelling I found listening to pod casts was great, and easy to do while you were on trains, planes etc. The most important word you’ll need is excuse me. The German is “entschuldigung,” which takes some…[Read more]

    • If you want to go north, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland are essentially bilingual countries… most people you meet will be fluent and the ones who aren’t can still speak conversational English. They are kind of expensive though, especially Norway. Sweden is a little cheaper than Denmark.

Germany in the cities is fine… touristy parts of…[Read more]

    • Welcome Cindy! C’mon in! We’re in the pre-planning stages, so if you have thoughts/feelings about what we might do, share them! Also we might need to start pinning down a date in January… I am thinking perhaps the first weekend after New Year… What do you think?
      Bx

      • Yeah.. i think you/we should set a date. So I can tell my boss i’m not working that weekend. And also look for cheap tickets ;)
