how much ass did skins US suck? a tv show has never accomplished making me care less/rage like that one did. tea was so hot. such potential. fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

    • agreed. it was absolutely awful. I gave up after about 3 episodes. Tea was a babe though. I wonder if it will get renewed for a second season. Can’t wait for series 6 of UK Skins though. January is so far away.

    • I could never even get through one episode. And this is from someone who watched a lot of Pokemon as a kid so trust me.

I kind of want to see it get renewed, though, so all the people raging over Tea/Tony will be vindicated (since Elsley indicated in an interview that Tea will end up with a girl of some sorts, not Tony, if the storyline is given time to play out – not to say it wasn’t shitty of him to go the “lesbian sleeps with a dude” route in the first place.)

    • The occasionally tossed in British slang would really throw me off. The show never felt coherent to me. And let’s not even get into how unlikable US Tony was…

      • Yeah, UK Tony was a douche, but I could understand why he had friends, He was that person that every high school has who is a total jerk but charismatic enough that you wanted his/her admiration anyway. I didn’t get any of that from US Tony; he was just a tool, with none of the charm that explained it away. I think a lot of this, though, was because Nicholas Hoult is a good actor and James Newman is not. I also got that feeling with US Chris and with Cadie. They forgot how much the people in those roles made the original UK characters who they were. I’m so glad they didn’t make it to Season 3 because if they can’t pull off a Tony or Chris, they definitely can’t pull off a Cook or a JJ.

And yeah, the slang was bad. Isn’t the whole point that it’s supposed to be “realistic”? How did they think they were going to accomplish that by using UK slang?

    • MTV couldn’t produce an “authentic” drama to save a pop star’s life. They should just air the UK versions here! i feel like the US version and American shows in general fail at subtly. Skins UK is over the top, but there is a sincerity to it…
