Does anyone have advice for revitalizing a GSA? The one at my school has fallen apart, but I’m really hoping that we’ll be able to get it together this year.
-
Bring food.
-
SECONDED. cookies and brownies are the only reason mine ever gets new members. also, talk about like tv shows with gay/lesbian/trans* themes cuz EVERYONE likes television.
-
-
Structure helps a lot. My girlfriend and I essentially took over the GSA at our school, and the second we started actually figuring out what we’d be doing in meetings things started to work better. We went from 4 members in 2009/10 to ~20 this past year.

I’m VP of my school’s GSA and my GSA has been there before. 1st for events. plan well and don’t do everything by yourself. get people involved. make sure to take part and involve the school in human rights/ anti-bullying campaigns. go look for some some throughout the year like Coming Out Day. Sites to look for these events are GLSEN and the HRC.…[Read more]

What are y’all doing this summer? I’m taking two summer courses because my parents are obsessed with me finishing school early.
-
Work! I am still so thankful that I got hired.
-
Work, writing essays for scholarships, driver’s training session 1 (ughhh) cause I haven’t taken it yet and I’m 16 and my parents want me to get my license >.<
-
I’m interning at the NYCLU and also spending a bit of time in Southampton and Nantucket at friends’ houses. Natalie, are you in the NYC area like me?

Anyone else here applying to colleges this summer?
-
I’m in such a tizzy because if I’m gonna do uni/college (I’m not American ;)) I really should be applying in the next coupla months. But I’m not sure if I wanna go back to study right away, or have a gap year. So many decisions! Also, a gap year means I’m gonna need some money. I spend all of mine on secondhand books… Heh.
-
I’m applying in the fall- sooo many life decisions to make and all I want to do is play pokemon.
-
Ugh, I know, right? If Ash doesn’t have to age and just gets to travel the world with his pokebuddies, why can’t we do the same?
-
-
Oooo where would you apply to uni? I’m american, but my mum’s canadian so I have dual citizenship. I was thinking of applying to Mcgill and maybe Concordia in Montreal.
And to idotry, I know, right? I have no idea what I want to do and everything’s just crazy D: -
Fall, for me. I may or may not be experiencing mild anxiety over this.
-
I’m going to start my applications in August, kind of afraid I’ll either get in nowhere or get in everywhere (’cause apparently you can’t go to four or five schools in dif. states at the same time).
-
I’ll be writing some college essays, yes. Bring on the writers’ block – at least with less anxiety than during the school year.
