I’m moving from Metro Detroit to Grand Rapids at the end of this year. Since I just recently came out to myself and my husband, I’ve been taking advantage of some of the programs offered at Affirmations in Ferndale, specifically their Coming Out Over Coffee group. When I checked out the LGBT center in Grand Rapids, I didn’t see anything like that. Does anyone know if there is an active community there? Or are the active LGBT groups mostly affiliated with the local universities?

  Hey Kristin,
  I’m in Holland, but from my understanding GR does not have a very active community. I do work with Holland Is Ready and we often look to the Kalamazoo Resource Center as the strongest model on this side of the state. Not ideal for you, about an hour away, but a supportive community none the less.
