NYC Autostraddlers 12 years, 5 months agohmm… this group is pretty quiet now, but it better get poppin’ come mid June. Anyone already have Pride plans?
-
I’ll be marching (I think) with CRUX, an LGBT climbing/social group. We’re good with ropes and harnesses…
-
I read that as a lesbian social climbing group– climbing/social sounds a lot more fun.
-
Ha, no. Just rocks.
-
-
Okay, as a lesbian climbing enthusiast, I am both skeptical and delighted that this exists. Where do you climb?
-
BKB most Fridays, except this one – Gunks this weekend, as long as the weather holds. You should check it out: http://www.lgbtclimbing.com .
-
a;sdlkjfas;dlkfj I LOVE the Gunks but I have to take an AP test this weekend. Update me on what you end up climbing- both out of curiosity and to get a sense of level.
-
-
Same! Also I work down the block from Brooklyn Boulders which just makes me even more excited. Checking out the link!
-
So I was lame and bailed on the Gunks, then the weather cleared. Fail. HOWEVER I will be at BKB instead, look for the girl in the fox tshirt after 7.
-
-
-
oh, I bet you are
-
-
they include: getting there on time, meeting some ladies, going to local leztravaganza, dorking out in front of said ladies, going home with free stuff, new friends, getting people to understand sarcasm. u?
-
essentially the same, especially the “getting there on time” thing. only add some alcohol, and that fact that I will be fiercely trying to distract myself from the fact that my girlfriend is going to be off gallivanting around Florence
-
my bad, i thought dorking out implied alcohol too. hehe
-
ha that’s my bad, I should have figured
-
-
-
-
My plans involve wearing a lot of glitter and flirting with girls who introduce me to their girlfriends 15 minutes later. They also include downtime at the Strand and maybe iced chai.
-
but how? the best strand is now gone! (by the south street seaport)
-
The Union Square location is an adequate substitute. Also the cashiers are pretty cute, also there is a Secret Stash of dollar advanced reader copies.
-
-
-
Will there not be an Autostraddle Disco Rodeo thing this year?!!?!?!?!?! If not, I will cry, because I’m finally of age…
-
Mason Dixon Closed so I am not sure if/where the party is going to happen.
I’m planning on partying hard and taking that monday off to let my liver recover. Specifics are unclear at this point.

Music Addicts Annonymous 12 years, 5 months agoLet’s talk concerts!
Best Experience: The Gossip at Terminal 5 in NYC. They put on such a great show
Most Anticipated: Foals next week and Lykke Li in May
Have to See Live Before You Die: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs-
The YYYs are on my bucket list too. Along with the Kills.
-
ugh, the kills are so good live. they have such good chemistry
-
-
My favourite gig ever was the Gossip too, but being on the other side of the atlantic, it was in Glasgow. It was a small venue under a railway bridge, the atmosphere was electric – I’d pay 5 times as much to see them live again :)
-
Did not expect it but mumford and sons were epic at splendour last year… so was Washington
-
Best Experience: Either the first time I saw Tegan and Sara (CLICHE) or Los Campesinos. Los Camp put on one hell of a show. You could feel the floor flexing under us all jumping to the music.
Most Anticipated: I’m seeing Ted Leo tomorrow, so that’s going to be fun
Have to See Live Before You Die: I need to see The Magnetic Fields once. I bet that…[Read more] -
Obvs T&S were great, but I also loved The Faint and I had my socks blown off by this band that opened for Sleater Kinney in 2000 called: The White Stripes.
I would love to see Bloc Party and apparently they’ve just reunited! SO MANY EXCITED FEELINGS.
-
Bloc Party is amazing live! I’ve seen them twice now and can’t wait for their next tour
-
-
Best Experience: Girl in a Coma @ Soda Bar in San Diego, 2010
Best T&S Experience: In Malibu in this teeny venue in 2007 touring before “The Con” was released.
Most Anticipated: Excuses for Skipping soon (I hope)
Have to See Live Before You Die: Pony Up! (if they ever tour again) -
best experience: tie. cat power, I was so close I almost thought I felt sweat drip from her face. MSTRKRFT, I danced for three hours straight w/o stopping. amazing!
most anticipated: lykke li and beirut, this summer.
have to see before you die: BSS, including all the original members. I can die happy after this. -
Best experience: Dave Matthews at Rothbury Fest 2008
Most anticipated: U2 + Florence and the Machine, this summer
Have to see before you die: Can you believe I’ve never seen T&S live? The next tour for sure.-
I haven’t seen them yet either =/
-
-
Best Experience: Sigur Ros in NYC or Neko Case in Ithaca
Most Anticipated: Titus Andronicus, Future Island, and Okkervil River in June

Music Addicts Annonymous 12 years, 5 months agoJust bought the new Thao & Mirah album! It is amazing.
-
Ooh I want that one! I’ll have to get it now!
-
yeah it is so good. I was sold when I saw it was produced by Merrill Garbus from tUnEyArDs, she is mesmerizing.
-
-
I only have really listened to ‘Eleven’ which was a free download on amazon, but I get the sense that the rest of the album is less like that and more standard indie folk-y. However, if you like eleven you DEFINITELY should check out Micachu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micachu) whose 2009 album must have inspired that track’s bumping pots and…[Read more]

Music Addicts Annonymous 12 years, 5 months agoCan we talk about how awesome Allison Weiss is for a second? I really enjoy her latest album, and I may or may not have just received a Pizza and Pancakes hat from her merch store… because I like food almost as much as music.

I’ve been listening to Santogold’s first album again and thinking a new one is long overdue.-
I’m pretty excited for She Wants Revenge’s new album. I think it comes out next month…hopefully it’s better than the last stuff they put out. :)

Hey look what I found! Apparently a track from the new album: http://youtu.be/OJos7KTLue4
