Western New York is not upstate, but since “upstate” is always code for “Not New York City,” despite the fact that Western New York is WESTERN, hello.

Baltimore / D.C. Autostraddlers! 12 years, 4 months agoI really want to go to Baltimore pride this year but I don’t have any lesbian friends to go with and I am V. nervous about driving down in the city. I didn’t read over all the previous comments relating to pride(sorry), did any of guys decide to meetup and carpool, or meetup somewhere else? Hugs, L
-
We haven’t decided on a meet-up, but if it’s safety you’re worrying about, I live in Mt. Vernon, the area where Pride is centered, and you don’t have to worry, it’s one of the safest parts of the city. (Parking, though, that’s a different story and a big part of the reason why I haven’t bothered to get my license yet…)
-
I’m coming in from B-more county and I’m wondering if I should even bother trying to park or if anyone has any opinion on whether taking the Light Rail down is worthwhile/what stop I would want to get off at
-
Parking in Mt. Vernon is insane. I would take the light rail and get off at Centre. There’s also a map here: http://mta.maryland.gov/services/lightrail/schedule/Light_Rail_09.pdf

I live in New Bedford- am I still allowed in the clubhouse?
-
oh geez, guess i am not allowed in because i have NO IDEA what gas tank you are talking about…this could be due to my high-anxiety-white-knuckled-hands-on-the-wheel-eyes-on-the-road driving.
-
ho chi minh!

I am. When I was little I always heard that each stripe is supposed to be the picture of something. So I always have to intensely stare at it when I go into boston. I always knew the bearded man one and I heard that one is supposed to be a ballet slipper but I can see how maybe three of the stripes could be ballet slippers
-
I’ve never heard of lake chargoggndsjklnfsdkjhgbsjhbfsjdfsjb but I will definitely look out for frankenstein next time I go into boston.

Autostraddle Summer Book Club 2011 12 years, 4 months agoAny Vonnegut fans? He’s my favorite author (yes it’s cliche and I don’t care). I’ve read and loved Slaughterhouse-Five, The Sirens of Titan, Breakfast of Champions and various nonfiction/short stories and I’m currently making my way through Mother Night.
-
i have yet to read any of his books. it needs to be on my must reads for this summer. i have several friends who just shake their head and walk away when our book talks end up there
-
i loved slaughterhouse five. can you recommend a next book? every time i go to the bookstore/library and look at the summaries of all his books, i can’t find one that jumps out at me.
-
I’ve read Galapagos, Cat’s Cradle and Breakfast of Champions. I enjoyed the books but I’m not a huge fan of Vonnegut. I did like Cat’s Cradle a lot, however! :D

GREEN LINE WHUT. Also, the circulator is my girlfriend.
To be fair, I’ve left D.C. for a little while and I lived equidistant from Red and Green. (I think I just totes told everyone where I lived.) But I took the Red to work. And when the Tea Partiers descended on my city to see Glenn Beck shit all over MLK, they hilariously warned their fellow Beckites that the Green Line was scary and evil! It’s…[Read more]
My bad – I thought you were talking about Baltimore’s Red Line subway, which surprised me as I don’t know anyone who uses it. That’s the problem with the one group for both I guess.
Charm City Circulator is the shit, though. If you’re ever in Bmore that’s the way to go.
Also, Glenn Beck and racist Repubs = ew.
