Also, OK — I know it’s not this simple, because the other things that are on this list involve a dead locked Congress, but it’s hard for not a (fairly large) part of me to also agree with this take from Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, one of of the political minds I most respect.
In spite of my complicated feelings about biden I gotta admit, I’m pretty freaking stoked to know that a black woman is going to hold this title. (Hell Yeah!)
I was kinda sad about Amy cause I wanted her to beat the all time record but I’m still really happy for her! (Why did she have to lose the same day I found out she had a girlfriend?)
I’m sad about Amy losing but so, so happy for her achievement. Plus she just seems like a genuinely cool and delightful person.
And what is it with librarians from Chicago ending long winning streaks? James Holzhauer was also defeated by one.

Let’s hope we see her on other games shows like we saw with Ken after his streak was over. Plus, I like how she said her gf helped her keep up with the pop culture stuff, how very gay & cute.
Having read the “millennials aging out of the teen genre” piece, I definitely agree that grown adults need to stop watching and/or caring so much about teen shows (sorry!) but I don’t think the piece *quite* captures why some of us are irritated by the endless reboots/revivals. I’m very happy today’s teens have Euphoria, I’m less thrilled that we’re bringing back old shows like the Fresh Prince instead of making something new. I just want something new and original, is that so much to ask?
I think the trend in revivals is especially interesting in the context of the article’s first paragraph describing the ‘apocalyptic’ conditions today’s teens face, I wonder if the revivals are a way to continue pretending growing up is the same as it’s always been and assuage the fear that the kids aren’t okay
The millennials aging out of the teen genre piece mentions that our last president was a reality tv star. The similar could be said early 90s when many of us started pre-school/kindergarten & Bush was president. The last president was a C-list at best actor turned President, also with no morals.
I was really surprised by how easily my mom accepted Amy as a woman on Jeopardy! So far, that hasn’t translated into her accepting her grandchild as non-binary, but it might be a step in that direction.
Amyyyyy! I’ve been absolutely heartbroken since Wednesday night. I am so thankful for having had her on Jeopardy! for so long. She showed you can dominate the board without making it hell for audiences at home to follow along. And the amount of times she referred to her queer relationships in those 41 episodes was possibly more than all past contestants combined in the show’s history. Unprecedented gayness! An absolute joy to watch her decimate the competition. Can’t wait to see her again in the tournament of champions.
