  1. Laneia, thank you so much for including that link about anti-Semitism in the Women’s March and on the Left in general.

I’ve been noticing and making noise and it feels like only Jews care, like only Jews notice it, and it is so lonely to feel like you’re the only one who cares when the leaders of a national allegedly intersectional movement endorse a man who says “Jews, your time is up. Your world is ending.”

Like, I’m shaking every time I think about it.

    • Yes, Laneia, thanks for including the link. It articulated what I’ve been thinking/feeling for a long time and did so better than I have been able to. It’s frustrating to support a movement that doesn’t support us, but intersectionality really never seems to include Jews unless we’re the ones talking about it (and even then I’m frankly surprised by how many white Jews seem to be voluntarily taking themselves out of the conversation as if the Nazis/alt-right/etc. aren’t coming for them too).

  2. Thanks Laneia, for the inclusion of the Sydney Star Observer article.

The interviewees are right, that disgusting exhibition last year by our government in forcing a national postal vote on Marriage Equality has been the catalyst for some truly hateful activity by Neo Nazi and other right wing groups, directed at us and other minorities.

More reasons for Australians to work to ditch our appalling Government as soon as we can.

  3. Thanks for the 90s nostalgia article. Lots to think about.

I’m an old-ish genXer (48, graduated high school in 87) and honestly the 80s fashion revival (was that in the late 2000s?) hit me more viscerally. I’d finally gotten used to being one of those adults who just don’t get youth fashions and then my (college) students started wearing leggings and jeans mini skirts and Chuck Taylors and skin tight jeans and it was weird but also kind of nice, because at least I recognized the fashions. Also, I got to freak them out with my valley girl speak, which was a fun bonus.

That was also the first revival where I really felt like yeah, I wore that the last time it was fashionable, thank you universe that I don’t have to wear it again. (Although I do have a couple pairs of skinny jeans).

I haven’t really noticed the 90s revival yet. Some parts of my wardrobe never left the 90s. So that will be nice.

But I do have all those conflicting feelings w/r/t how I felt in my 20s and how I still feel in my 40s.
