Also.Also.Also: The Industry Could’ve Believed Amber Heard Instead of Crawling Up Johnny Depp’s Butt, But Nooo

Good morning! I’m about to spend 2+ hours in a salon chair where I’ll be the only client and she’ll be the only stylist and we’ll have to figure out something to say to each other until it’s over! I love being a totally normal adult.

Imagine a powerful man as a ship, like the Titanic. That ship is a huge enterprise. When it strikes an iceberg, there are a lot of people on board desperate to patch up holes — not because they believe in or even care about the ship, but because their own fates depend on the enterprise.

  1. LANEIA- Here’s what I do when I’m “in the chair.” Up front, I say I’m not great with small talk and would prefer to sit quietly. Or I pepper them with questions about their life (my oral historian proclivities coming through). My current stylist is an introvert who has to pass as an extrovert all day, so she appreciates it.

    • I just came back to let yall know I stopped following autostraddle after this article, and all the other ones you’ve posted about Amber Heard. She admitted to assault. The lesbian community has a problem with sweeping wlw abuse and femme abusers under the rug. It happened to me. Can we please address why this publication has been fawning over a person who has been credibly accused of assault? This has definitely made me feel like autostraddle is not a safe place for victims of femme abusers.

  2. anxiety baking, loneliness, and my nostalgia for a time without social media as we now know it?? oof!

also the 2+ hours of one-on-one contact where they get to analyze and touch one of my biggest insecurities is exactly why i haven’t had a haircut since 2016 hahahahelpme. i hope it goes well!

  3. omg laneia the what-do-i-say-to-my-hairstylist thing is SO REAL! usually my appointments start at 5:30 pm so we’re the only two people in the building and it’s the end of a day of work and i want to fall asleep under the thingy and instead we stare at each other between using our phones and try to think of things to say!!!! it’s the worst.

  4. So, I confess I’ve never had the hairstylist problem because my mother is a hairstylist and she just gave me a cute (and gay) haircut yesterday. But I relate with pretty much everything else here! Nice to see that I’m at a prime age for being lonely and that it will likely continue into the future. How lovely. At least my hair will look good.

  5. also also also
ppl would’ve believed her if there hadn’t have been so many glaring discrepencies
    1) she was arrested for DV of her previous partner tasya van ree
    2) read the online court docs. police arrived no damage to apartment, no damage to amber
    3) her friends report on people.com that quote- amber may look refined but if you make her angry she’ll go trailer park, end quote
4)elon musk also reports that she lies
5)she admitted to depp’s lawyer of attacking depp multiple times, including she punched him in the face twice
