  1. Why thank you Laneia, I just moved in to my new home this morning and am contemplating the bravery that led me to be right here, by myself on this couch, comfortably alone.

That scramble sounds delicious by the way ~~~

  2. That article on Intersex surgery.

I am hesitant to use that word because I feel that it implies that gender is a two ring Venn diagram…whereas maybe bodies and beings and existence are just far more complex and beautiful.

Why do so very many humans want to limit themselves to colouring in just black and white when there’s an infinitely gorgeous spectrum?

    • Just to clarify…I meant the comment about black and white thinking irt people wanting to put others into binary boxes for their own comfort. Definitely not irt anyone’s own knowledge of their own gender and existence.

      • I felt bad for that woman who was like, “but I had every right to have that surgery as a little kid because how else could I possibly have gone swimming?” Maybe a world where people don’t freak out if a little kid in a female-associated swimsuit appears to have a lump in their crotch? I just feel like that’d be a better world than one where we do surgery on nonconsenting children to spare them from the bullies.
        I also want Laneia’s breakfast.

  3. I am trying to think of obscure covers that are better than the original and all I can think of is Judas Priest – Diamonds and Rust(came out around 1977), which I heard last week. It was originally sung by Joan Baez and came out in 74, which Google tells me is about Joan’s relationship with Bob Dyland(which I didn’t know until now). It always felt like it was about a dude, but I thought maybe that had to do with Rob Halford being gay.

  4. So, this has nothing to do with the above articles, but I saw Janelle Monae at OutsideLands Music Festival yesterday. I was surrounded mostly by straight people who I guess were saving their spots for Janet Jackson, because they didn’t know her music at all. Let me tell you, it was delightful seeing their reaction to the labia leggings and the choreography for “Pink.” I heard one woman tell her boyfriend that it was the greatest thing she’d ever seen on a stage. That’s Janelle–revolutionizing rock-n-roll one vagina at a time.

  5. “In the early days, we were thinking a lot about how historically the butch has been the butt of the joke, when she is clearly as funny and fabulous as the faggot”

was this article written specifically for me

  6. Personally I am disappointed that butchcamp is not a campground full of butches doing bushcraft (or as I like to call it butchcraft)… and chopping firewood… and talking about their feelings around a campfire. Also, possibly, they have all brought their dogs.

Welcome to the world of the queer female gaze.

    • side note:

me and my ladyknight recently moved to a town in the mountains so that we can #butchcamp 24/7

      so far this has entailed:

      -buying an axe
-ordering several cubic meters of firewood
      -making furniture from free things
      -creating a dedicated library room
      -eating outside under trees
      -buying books about bushwalking
      -purchasing a jaffle iron
-getting to know the particularities of our woodstove
      -many ikea sagas
-aggressively befriending the queers that I saw in the grocery store
-forcing my city friends to commit to weekend long sleep overs / day trips where they are required to build things with me
      -accidentally buying too many plants
-getting snowed on at the farmers market
-the dog learning the joys of having a backyard
-5am train commutes into the city

on balance: living our best life
