  1. “Supreme Court Ruling Means Immigrants Could Continue To Be Detained Indefinitely.“
This makes me so fucking angry. Then you find out about the prison industrial complex and their need for experienced farm labor and everything starts making sense

  2. Am I a shallow person because the first article I chose to read was the 90s pop culture crushes one? Possibly, but Everything Sucks! has me fucked up with nostalgia this week.

PS, my 90s pop culture crushes included Michelle Pfeiffer in Grease 2 and also as Catwoman, Janet Jackson (especially her abs), Liv Tyler in anything ever, Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame, Rayanne Graff from My So-Called Life, and Kate Winslet in Titanic.

  3. One of the most interesting(and kind of weird) facts I found out about Barbra Streisand is she has two dogs that are a clone of her precious dog that passed away last year. She hoping to see if the dogs could be more like her original dog. I think it was mentioned in that article listed.

  4. Okay I’ve read several of these links and they’re great but the thing I can’t get over is FRIDAY JR. I keep coming back to this over and over again just to smile at Friday Jr. Can’t wait to rename all Thursdays for the rest of my life.

  5. Oh, the crushes!

    90s pop culture crushes:

Natalie Imbruglia, specifically in the “Torn” video
    Young Christian Slater
    Christina Ricci
    Neve Campbell

But my biggest 80s and 90s pop culture influence was Michael Jackson. I never even remotely had a crush on him, but he pretty much informed everything I knew about gender — which might be why I grew up thinking men should be androgynous, and that the ideal woman was a dangerous femme fatale type.

  6. I’ve never met anyone else with my big 90s crush. I was SO INTO Liz Phair. Big time crush. I think it was the kind of growly low voice and kind of oddly blase sexual lyrics. And that my actual in-person high school crush was named Liz?

Also there’s a lot of good stuff in here. Thanks for your ethical harvest; I hope you wore your hat and sunscreen and took breaks regularly.

    • Welcome to our community and I will now tell you of Edith Garrud because I need more people to know who she is and stuff she did.

She studied Tokyo-style Ju-Jitsu under Sadakazu Uyenish, the first ju-jitsu master to ever teach foreigners and having been studying martial arts for about 14 at this point. She was a very adept pupil and became a whiz a using leverage to flip really big dudes.

She opened some schools of her own and from about 1907-1914 trained Suffragettes how to fight and even like formed her own brute squad. A troupe of her best students wearing padding around their ribs and trained not just in flipping people but in how to use improvised weapons and this scary fucking thing that looks like a bowling pin which hid really well under long dresses/skirts.

This squad was at rallies and protests specifically to fuck the police and rude young men up, but they never had to start shit mind you. Those guys came to beat the shit out of women okay and fighting back was only fair.

    • Like, super incredibly erotic! The lingering touches, the way the woman arched her back as she was brought down… daaaamn. One of those things I couldn’t believe I was actually seeing. Thank you so much for sharing!
(When I followed links from the Suffragetto game, I ended up reading about a board game that takes 7 yrs to play)
