Also.Also.Also: Oh For F*ck’s Sake JUST LET THE LESBIANS DANCE

Hello good afternoon to you my friends. Before we get started, I’d love to share a special behind-the-scenes look at the kind of stories I see, but decide not to include in the AAA. Normally I wouldn’t bother you with this sort of thing but it’s like, even though I don’t want you to have to read it, I do want you to have to read it. You understand.

As so often occurs, the real beauty here is found in the accompanying image.

  1. My partner started telling me about the baby born with her own twin inside her this morning and I was so confused! I’m still confused because I haven’t read the article and I don’t really want to.

Also, the feature image is perfect.

      • No, the inside twin was not viable. The larger twin is fine!

Identical twins happen when a zygote splits in half, replicating itself completely, and each half goes on to become a baby. If the two halves don’t completely separate (or fuse back together later), the twins can be conjoined. In this case, one of the halves wrapped itself around the other very early in the development process. The outer one developed to maturity but the inner one did not. The baby was delivered early (via c-section) because doctors were concerned that the inner twin would hurt her. The inner was removed a day after that.

(I summarized this without including the bits that made my partner squirm while I read one of the articles out loud. Hope that helps.)
