    2) so was the one on Rom Coms and stalking but MY GOD I wish there was a warning for links to Tv Tropes because I clicked on them and there goes the afternoon (spoiler: I fell down the rabbit hole).

  2. Related to the harassment of women in the NPS at the Grand Canyon:

    It’s on the private guided aspect of the canyon, but the issue is endemic in the whitewater industry and I am unfortunately not at all surprised to hear that it is more widespread in the parks system. I think the Grand Canyon exacerbates the pre-existing issues of sexual harassment that exist by virtue of being more remote and isolated than many other parks (once you’re in the Ditch you’re pretty much stuck until you come out a few weeks later, barring an emergency worthy of a helicopter rescue). Plus, the grand is a position that everyone wants, so they’re more willing to put up with shit and less inclined to report harassment for fear of retribution or losing that position (because there’s plenty of people clambering to replace them).

    It’s incredibly shitty that this is the state of things, and I hope that more can be done to address these issues and the underlying culture that’s causing them.

  3. I think they are grouping and generalizing a little in the article about women lead Fortune 500 companies = more LGBTQ diversity. While it maybe true for the LGBQ portion, people in the trans community(specially twoc) have it harder. Transphobia knows no gender, and in fact some of the most vocal and active transphobes are women(Cathy being one, if not thee most awful of them all). I think that diversity becomes even less when the trans person isn’t straight(because let’s face it many people assume all or at least most trans people are straight).
