  1. That Crossdressing for Halloween essay struck me deeply.

“I became profoundly aware that I wasn’t dressing as Kravitz in a silly way, but to feel unironically attractive and celebrated for leaning into a masculine appearance.” I feel like I was socialized to only feel attractive and sexual while looking very femme, and it was very empowering to feel hot while leaning onto my more masculine side. That said, I sometimes feel shamed for presenting as femme and how that relates to being bi.

“Simultaneously, I felt a competing pressure observing styles in the queer womxn community to dress more masculine to attract girls or present more queer to make flirting easier.”

When I first started going out to queer spaces I felt like I read as my gay friend’s straight bff. It’s been challenging to find a style that I can call my own, a style that makes me feel seen and not like I’m being costumey. But I’ve come to appreciate my body as it is and all it can do for me, and I think that’s been the key to finally feeling comfortable in clothes.

As for Aging and LGBT in Argentina, the rising of Bolsonaro in Brazil has made me reflect on how my great uncle had to move in the 70s to Sao Paulo to avoid persecution in Buenos Aires. I’ve felt very privileged to come out in more accepting times, but there’s still fear and a disconnect between legislation and society’s acceptance of our existence.

  2. Fiiiinally got a chance to listen to Jasika Nicole’s interview. She is FANTASTIC!! I loved Alice Isn’t Dead so its great to hear her voice again. So many great points on queerness, anxiety, and her relationship to them as a WOC. V cool
