8 Kickass Crowd Songs From Movies & TV: From “Almost Famous” to “Skins”

You know the scene — somebody starts singing, and then everybody starts singing. Or a song starts and suddenly a character is lip syncing and then another character is lip syncing too. It’s like suddenly the show or movie becomes a musical for about four minutes and it’s kinda awesome. Here are 8 of our favorites — it would be nine if some kind soul could put a decent version (with audio/video actually in sync) of Bring It On‘s “Hey Mickey” on the internet.

  1. Oh my giddy aunt, my best friend’s wedding, standard reference point for my whole family to burst in to song

  2. Needs more La Vie Boheme. I don’t care if Rent is a musical and was therefore disqualified on those grounds.

  3. This is so fabulous!! And can we all agree that every song in “Across the Universe” is excellent? Especially “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” ;) Also, I think the Guns n Roses car scene from Stepbrothers should get honorable mention.

  4. Wild World from Skins is definitely the best one! i used to love that show, until this season came…..lol

  5. In the wake of my favorite show One Tree Hill ending during it’s 9th season – a pretty big record for a teen drama. I will share this video which I believe to be one of the best sing alongs considering it was the theme song for the show and I imagine that every fan was also singing along with the characters and feeling as much grief for the show ending as the characters were!

  6. Does the Bohemian Rhapsody scene in Wayne’s World count? Probably over endorsed by 13 year old boys, but still, I love it.

  7. Is there any group of humans alive that can have a singalong of Tiny Dancer without picturing that scene? An already great song made 100x better by association.

  8. OH MICKEY! YOUR SO FINE! YOUR SO FINE YOU BLOW MY MIND! HEY MICKEY!

^__^ THE MEMORIES OF THAT MOVIE AND THAT SONG! GOOD GRAVY I’M OLD!

Let’s take it back to 2000! PLEASE!

  9. The Tiny Dancer scene from Almost Famous is one of my favorite film scenes ever!
    So. Much. Love.

  10. My So-called Life, Angela’s freedom dance, “Blister In the Sun” by Violent Femmes.

  11. Oh mannnn, My Best Friend’s Wedding really gets me. Gahhh. Just, she doesn’t get the guy, even though there is this beautiful understanding between them… and like, Cameron Diaz is so cute you can’t help but love her too… but the look on Julia’s face as he fades back into the crowd idk idk idk. OWWWIE. Really, the ending is so poignant and tear-inducing and it’s like, friendship is BEAUTIFUL and life DOES go on.

  12. oh lawd Magnolia too. i love how it’s a “crowd song” in a sense but really everyone’s alone. :-(
