22 Recipes for the Great Caper

Hello and welcome to this thing we’re doing where we help you figure out what you’re gonna put in your mouth this week. Some of these are recipes we’ve tried, some of these are recipes we’re looking forward to trying, all of them are fucking delicious. Tell us what you want to put in your piehole or suggest your own recipes, and we’ll talk about which things we made, which things we loved, and which things have changed us irreversibly as people. Last week, we gave you a sleigh full of holiday cookie recipes.

Capers are among my favorite foods, and I always have a jar of these little guys in my fridge. Capers are pickled buds from the caper bush and come in two varieties: vinegar packed and salt packed. I admit I have only tried the vinegar variety, but only because the salt ones require a pre-soaking situation, and I’m not about that life. I hope this accumulation of caper recipes will ignite or otherwise invigorate your love for capers, or at the very least give you an excuse to make a lot of detective puns in the kitchen.

  1. Also: good old chicken piccata. The sole version sounds good, but something about how crispy the little flattened out chicken bits get is just really hard to beat.

Also also: PUT THEM ON PIZZA. YOU’RE WELCOME.

  2. Thank goodness for this as my wife has just found THREE jars of them……
Wonder if you could put them in martini as an olive substitute……..
