20% Off EVERYTHING In The Autostraddle Store Including New Gal Pal Hoodies!

Today is the first day of the rest of your life, and you should probably spend it spending money at the Autostraddle store! Here’s an idea of where you could start spending your money: THE GAL PAL HOODIE.

Okay here’s what you can’t tell from the picture that I’m gonna tell you right now: these hoodies are magical. Not only do they actually fit your body instead of kinda ‘hanging out’ in the general region of your body, but they have THUMB-HOLES. Also! There’s a tiny secret pocket inside your hoodie pouch. (!!!) It’s the perfect size for an ob tampon, a lighter, drugs, an iPhone, a baby kangaroo, or a secret note to that special someone. AND! There’s a little hole for your headphones too. I didn’t discover that part for so long but once I did I was like, “what’s next, this hoodie?”

I’ll tell you what’s next! A scissoring gradient tee:

They’re printed on soft and slouchy and sexy Alternative Apparel t-shirts that’ll fit your body way better than scissoring ever had. These tees will definitely be the new “MUST-HAVE” for hanging around in your apartment, house, or tent.

Also, we’re gonna have some new designs coming in the next few weeks so you should look out for those!

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING OF ALL IS:

  1. Thank you for the discount, it may be time for that hoodie! Please consider diversifying your size offerings on your “women’s” size t-shirts as well as the “unisex” tops. I’ve always experienced Autostraddle to be size/body positive and it was disappointing to peruse the shop and not find that reflected there.

    • yeah, we definitely want to! and sometimes it’s just that the larger sizes are out of stock.

basically, we print on the largest sizes that are available to us from the companies that make the garments themselves (bella + canvas, alternative apparel, or american apparel are the ones with the highest-quality american-made goods) and we’re regularly frustrated that a lot of the garments we want to print on don’t go over a L or an XL. usually that means we’ll abandon that particular cut and try to find a second choice or third choice that’s comparable that comes in a larger size. sometimes that’s impossible.

i don’t know why they don’t make larger sizes in those cuts! because when we do find a style that goes up to 3XL, we get it, and we do have to pay like a $2 upcharge per shirt (we eat that cost, we don’t pass it on to y’all), so like, it can’t be a cost thing because we pay for the extra whatever ourselves. but yeah, i wish that our merch store could more accurately reflect our commitment to size/body-positivity too. :-/

      • Thank you for your response, Riese. I appreciate how conscientious you and your team are in trying to be more inclusive in the shop, even eating a cost that shouldn’t exist to begin with. I’m not a well-informed consumer, but maybe others could have ideas of where to source decent quality shirts with more sizing options.

I did buy that hoodie, though. :)

  2. Oh, sweet baby lord please bring the Misandrist shirt back! I was living abroad for I’m pretty sure the entire time it was available so I didn’t get to buy it :( But I want one soooo bad!

      • Yay! I’m so happy it’s coming back! I need to buy one for each day so I can wear them under my cardigans/blazers at work as a silent act of homorebellion.

  3. hello i love you won’t you tell me my size?
i love love love the gal pal hoodie with all its features and i really want it to fucking fit. if i’m a 42DD, what size do i get, L or XL?

    • If you want a swimmy hoodie that’s comfy I’d go with the XL! My boobs are like 4x smaller than yours and I rock the medium (barely).

    • There’s some nuance to this.

      1) Measure around the fullest part of your bust like you do for bra measuring, not your ribs your bust. This means all the way around your torso where the fullest part of your bust is gon be at when you wear the thing.

      2) Really hard part: Finding the size chart of the manufacturer for the product, in this case that is Independent Trading Company. I’m assuming the wholesale chart.

Okay so there’s more than some nuance to this, I’ve gone past google fu and into librarian’s kid skills.

If it’s IND008: ‘CHEST WIDTH 1″ BELOW ARMHOLE’ L is 21 inches, XL 22 inches? And 2XL is 23 inches.
      WTF that makes no sense.

Well this was a train wreck…when in doubt go bigger?

      ¯\_(-n-)_/¯

It’s pullover sweater and you might have layers of shirts under it for warmth…

  4. They are out of hoodies in large! Any chance they will be back in stock or should I go ahead and get an xl, before they sell out too?

  5. Me and my friends are absolute fans of those cool “gal pal” Christmas sweaters. Are the Christmas sweaters coming back? :)

    • Or, like, any Christmas sweaters. I know they are a seasonal item, but we just love the print and the cut.

      • We do have a pretty nifty sweater coming your way, it won’t be holiday-themed, but it’ll keep your body warm and fuzzy. Stay tuned!

  6. The hoodies all seem to be sold out still in Small :( Hopefully they’ll be back in stock some time soon!
