  1. UNF at that first one, I LOVE Lapsang Souchong.
Also I remember the Schichttorte from that one Great British Bake off challenge ! Ahah.

  2. Ha! So basically two of the hardest bakes from the Great British Baking Show. Challenge accepted, Mary Berry and the Male Judge!!

  3. Okay, that ice cream at the top sounds amazing. When I’m (hopefully) less poor one day, I’ll have to try it!

  4. “The judges would love you to make a Schichttorte.”

“Don’t say that they might make a good one!”

  5. Bolognese is my favorite “complicated” recipe. It’s not difficult so much as long. I make a carrot/onion/celery mirepoix, add meat (sometimes sausage, sometimes beef) loads of fresh peeled tomatoes and cook it on low for hours, adding a splash of red wine near the end. Got 3kilo (6.6lbs) of tomatoes for 3.5E ($3.9) the other day so bolognese is definitely on the menu this week. :D I’ve mostly not been eating meat so it will be a special treat.

  6. All of these amazing dishes are making me seriously regret getting a salad for lunch. Especially those tamales. YUM. Definitely gonna add all of them to my recipe folder.

Of all the complicated recipes I’ve made, this one is still my favorite: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/artichoke-ravioli-with-tomatoes-236983. I have exactly 0 out of the 3 pieces of special equipment they list in the recipe items, as well as no food processor, so I’ve had to improvise: I hand-chopped the mixed ingredients in the filling, rolled out the dough with a rolling pin, and used a round drinking glass to cut out the ravioli. It does add a bit of extra time and effort into the overall production, but the payoff is so worth it.

    • well these look amazing. i’ve never made homemade pasta before, but knowing that you’re out there slinging raviolis without the help of a pasta machine is really giving me hope!

  7. These are beautiful, but I’m definitely a lazy cook, because my first reaction to pretty much all of these is, “Nope.”

  8. So spaghetti tonight. That’s my conclusion from this; that and I need to go get bread for making garlic bread.

  9. I made beef Wellington for my family at Christmas. It wasn’t perfect, but it was delicious. A really fun extra special occasion dish. If you buy frozen puff pastry it really isn’t all that difficult, but yes complicated.

  10. So many wonderfully complicated recipes…but really, don’t make lutefisk. Just…don’t.

  11. Thanks so much for featuring my recipe and photo for ‘Pâté de Canard en Croûte. Your post also encouraged me to visit a few of the other bloggers’ websites on this post.

  12. The curries aren’t that hard if you just go with pre-made sauces or powders (like most people do).

  13. Number seven looks incredible but the recipe is in French :/ My cooking skills are average at best and I did German at school so I think the language babrrier is one step too far.

  14. Okay, wait: LYE?! Whaaat? Mind blown.

The ice cream recipe was beautifully written and made me ache for the kind of fall that never happens where I live. I’m going to carry that around with me for a while.
