You Should Go: Feed Your Brain at the National Young Feminist Leadership Conference!

Calling all feminists! I’m inviting you to come this year’s National Young Feminist Leadership Conference with all my heart, and also because I come bearing a discounted admission rate for you. So, you in or what?

From March 21 to 23 this year, feminist activists from around the country will head to the nation’s capital to learn organizing skills, grow their knowledge of critical women’s issues around the world, and hobknob with leaders and public figures who push to make the universe a better place. Workshops and panels on the 21 and 22 will go down at the Crystal City Double Tree, along with some social activities and networking opportunities. On the 23, everyone goes to the Hill to yell at important people about everything they learned and care about, which is fun!

The ultimate goal is for young feminists to take all they learn back to campus and change the world, which nobody can tell me isn’t badass as fuck.

We’ll be covering issues like LGBT and civil rights, the #BlackLivesMatter movement, abortion access, legislative attacks on your person, global feminism, and organizing tactics. From skill-building programs to panel discussions, we’ll be growing our brains together, and it’ll be mmm, mmm good.

And the best part? Autostraddle readers who wanna go to this year’s National Young Feminist Leadership Conference can get in for the discounted rate of $25 per person using the code AUTO2015 during registration!

Attendees also save big on hotel rooms, but only until February 27! So registering now is better for everyone, really. And especially you. (If you need help securing funding to come, check out our ideas.) Once you’re signed up, head over to the Facebook event page to meet your fellow attendees, find roomies, and arrange rideshares. Use the hashtag #NYFLC2015 on Twitter to jump-start the conversations before you’re even on-site.

Whether you’re about to start a revolution on campus, working in advocacy and hoping to learn even more about the things you care about, or just a weirdo feminist queer looking for a place to call home for a few days, this is probably where you wanna be. Plus, I’ll be there loving on you! Isn’t that enough?

Sign up already, and I’ll see y’all in March.

Before you go! Autostraddle runs on the reader support of our AF+ Members. If this article meant something to you today — if it informed you or made you smile or feel seen, will you consider joining AF and supporting the people who make this queer media site possible?

  1. I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted to attend something this much in my life. I think maybe I want to do this even more than going to A-Camp, which is saying something.

    • lindsey, you should definitely also post about that on the fb event page! lots of people find carpools and roomies every year there, although undoubtedly traveling with a ‘straddler would be the best.

  2. Unrelated, but several of these recent articles have been html’d so that the links open in new windows. Bless you.

  3. I want to gooooo. I really have to make more queer and feminist friends in the cold north, that have cars that are good for road tripping. Those are my requirements for friends now.

    • sounds like a perfect situation, my friend! come hang out with me! although i have no car, admittedly.

      • Don’t think I will make this one, unfortunately, but as soon as Autostraddle has an event closer to the mitten, I will certainly be there!

  4. Can you go if you’re not in college? I thought this was only for current college students. If not and us confused postgrads can attend… I’ll be there for sure!!! This conference sounds amazing, and THANK YOU BASED AUTOSTRADDLE GODDESSES FOR THE DISCOUNT

    • @lmbarsk YES IT TOTALLY IS! some of the workshops will be focused around campus organizing, but it’s totally still valuable to people who have graduated. like, so many of the conversations will be about career building or oriented around issues – so it’s still a good place to learn and advance. comeeeee!

      • *praisehands emoji* YES. YES YES YES. gonna figure out how to make it work and then BE THERE. I’m so so excited for this and am so glad there’s going to be an Autostraddle presence! thank you for making this all happen.

  5. I’M GOING! I don’t know how I managed to pull it off all the way from Los Angeles but I’ve worked it out and I’m going! I’ve never been to D.C., I am SO EXCITED!

  6. I am going an I am so excited I cant wait! Would anyone else going like to meet up? I think it would be a lot of fun!
