VIDEO: “Little Horribles” Episode 6: Minibar

“Minibar” shows the horrors and shame experienced by many a visitor when they realize how much the snacks the hotel so generously provided actually costs. I, personally, have never taken anything from a minibar because I think I would hate myself for at least 3 months after that but some people are worse than others and that’s why the world is how it is. Written and created by Amy York Rubin, Little Horribles is a darkly comedic web series following the poor decisions of a self-indulgent lesbian. The series chronicles all those things that really aren’t that big of a deal and follows Amy as she navigates her thirties in Los Angeles. Hailed as the “Lesbian Girls” (by some lesbians in Silverlake) the show rips apart and laughs in the face of those painfully uncomfortable moments that no one wants to remember, but everyone does.

  1. This one was so good! I cant count the number of times I expressed disinterest in a some lame pool party, only to be reassured by a bunch of assholes that “No one cares the way you look!” or “You’re beautiful!”

    Cool.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I don’t want to go because you suck.

I enjoyed some bitter laughter at the family nonsense.

  2. This show is never not funny.

Real talk though: Why are all mothers alike? It they think you’re “a bi”, that basically means heterosexual to them. And not once do they try to set you up with their neighbour’s friends’ aunt’s single daughter. Men however they bring home like they were offered on sale – black friday style.

And I don’t even know how often I’ve heard the “you are only dating women because ugly” reasoning.
    – Yes, exactly. But also because I am a mermaid. Neither I not my same-gender relationships are real.

    • My mom used to hit me with “Are you still bisexual?” It’s not a cold, Mom…(to her credit, she grew out of it).

  3. When I was little I went on road trips with my family and we would bring our own snacks/drinks. One time we stayed at a motel with a minibar and I left a half opened can of soda in there (I thought it was just a tiny fridge with cold snacks). My father saw the can and nearly had a heart attack and yelled in a different language and that is how I learned how expensive mini bars are…

Needless to say I started screaming at my laptop trying to get her to stop eating from the minibar.

  4. Hahaha “What feelings!? …… Are you gay too?”

Have to say my reaction was the same as dad’s.

  5. Oh my god, it’s the woman who plays the mother in Dead Like Me, and they basically play characters with the exact same personalities.
