True story – I once knew someone who had the HRC bumper sticker only they had it turned 90 degrees because they didn’t know it was supposed to be an equal sign. They thought it was an “H” for “homo”.

I think it is a little like the Bruno game. I guess I used to hang out with a lot of stupid frat boys and I know that stuff like that scene makes them feel like that kind of humor is acceptable in all situations. But it’s like, all cases where you’re wondering if you can be held responsible for what your movie inspired people to do. Like most of the lesbian comedians I like I am pretty sure are rarely performing for a mixed crowd where any of their jokes that play into stereotypes could be misused, so I am able to totally enjoy it.

But as was demonstrated today, most people who watch those kinds of movies are obviously total fucking idiots. I mean the worst part is that none of these tweets were funny! They weren’t really nuanced, or clever, or interesting, except in terms of how many spelling errors could be jammed into one tweet. If they really think those things are what makes a person gay, or that gay people are so disgusting that they deserve being talked about like literal garbage, then um, I don’t know. We should probably fix our health care system or something.
