Playlist: Have You Seen My Whiskey Canteen, Let's Go Camping

Due to a bizarre coincidence, both of us are going to be "camping" this weekend. Laneia's already gone, in fact, and has likely been foraging for fruits and berries and killing rabid boars in the wide open spaces of Arizona USA since early Wednesday morning. Riese will be traipsing about the wild waters of California for approximately 48 hours, beginning later today.

Obviously this means the entire team is planning a serious kegger for Saturday when the bosses are gone and Rachel's in charge, but it also means that we need a playlist to commemorate this fine occasion.

Typically this list would be hippie-with-guitar-at-a-campfire-focused, but apparently there are no campfires allowed where Riese is going and she's too upset about this to think about it, even if it is somehow related to preventing mass wildfires.

Is it a stereotype that lesbians like to camp? Yes. Is it a stereotype for a reason? Yes. Now, not all of us like bugs/dirt/the absence of indoor plumping -- but statistically a lot of us do, whether it's at Bonnaroo or The Michigan Womyn's Music Festival or a Journey to Dump Dana's ashes in a magical waterfall.

In general we like nature, s'mores and being self-sufficient. Camping combines all of those things plus you have the opportunity to utilize ALL of the pockets in your cargo shorts.

This + copious amounts of alcohol may just save my life considering I’m camping under a heat advisory with ~30-40 strais for a combined bachelor/bachelorette party weekend beginning this evening… I have no other words. The words are gone.

    Definitely not. There’s only a covered cement slab… an army grade, barracks-style tent… and canoe/raft situations… It’ll be like True Life: I’m Entering the Wilderness. Where’s Bear Grylls? (Too many teevee references? Yes, that.)

I like sprinkling a little of jack johnson, kris kristopherson, and the dodos (especially from beware of the maniacs) in my camp playlist. yours is solid so far, love it!

This playlist is SO GOOD and so relevent to my interests right now. Wagon Wheel is my jam, I play it almost every time I pick up an instrument.

I’m also camping this weekend! And then, in 9 DAYS (!!!!!), I’m heading to Michigan Womyn’s Fest! If there are any ‘straddlers going, we should meet up! I’m on the crew so I might be working super hard but that’s all the more reason to party extra extra hard!

While that may not seem like campfire material on the surface, anyone who’s seen Wristcutters: A Love Story can tell you it’s perfect road trip/sing-a-long music.

I seriously have about 3/4 of these songs on my pre-existing camping playlist. By “camping,” I actually mean “road tripping without enough money to sleep in real beds so we sleep in the woods instead,” but that’s basically the same thing.

Is there like, a lesbian collective unconscious or something?
