Genderstraddlers: 2 years agoHey everyone, hope your day/evening/night is going well. Just to say if anyone has any suggestions for changing the group avatar feel free to give them in the comments. Personally, I’m getting a little bored of the default right now but let me know what you think. From my own perspective I’d like to avoid anything that suggests the…[Read more]

In reply to: Claire Barker posted an update in the group Straddle your Feminism: Discussion topic: ”I have met many feminists who were not lesbians, but I have never met a single lesbian who was not a feminst.” Rita Mae […] ViewWell since I also know several lesbians who do not identify as feminists I obviously disagree. But I do think it’s interesting to consider where/how lesbianism and feminism intersect for the people that do accept both labels. For me the two are somewhat connected simply because the process of coming out confronted me with all sorts of…[Read more]

In reply to: Rebecca V. posted an update in the group Genderstraddlers: It just bugs me the way different gender expressions always seem to be either a funny halloween costume or grounds for general dislike. Hopefully when I […] ViewYeah I know the feeling. Unfortunately it happens in university/college too (disrespectful people are sadly ubiquitous) but I do think that those type of academic environments often bring a lot of people with all sorts of life experiences and perspectives together and that really makes a difference. I’m just finishing up my first year of…[Read more]

In reply to: kat posted an update in the group SexyStraddle: NSFW LesboEveryDay: Does anybody else find that they’re not a visual person? I’ve always liked literature better, myself, but I can’t find any lesbian erotica that […] ViewYeah, I mean I’m visual in so much as I enjoy still images but while I enjoy video it doesn’t really do it for me as much. I suppose I like written material, and to a lesser extent still images, because it allows my imagination to really have free reign. Literature’s ideal but I also run into the ridiculous lesbian erotica problem and sadly I…[Read more]

I think good old fashioned books are still where its at for literary erotica. But culling that is a whole other matter. One of my favorite random lesbian compilations is “Chlow Plus Olivia” but there’s only about 2 erotic stories in there mixed with essays and other things. There’s always the “Best Lesbian Erotica” series but I haven’t read…[Read more]

In reply to: Elissa Marcelle posted an update in the group Straddle your Feminism: I would like to recommend an interesting book that I read last year and really need to read again. It’s called ”Whipping Girl: A Transsexual […] ViewYes! Yes I am so seriously seconding this book recommendation. I haven’t read it in in full for a while but it was the first book I ever read which really dealt with gender, trans* issues and feminism and I have a lot of affection in my heart for it for that reason. I’d also say that as I remember it the scope of the book- in particular the way…[Read more]

In reply to: Dany posted an update in the group Genderstraddlers: When I finally escaped my parental’s house I started dressing in clothes that I actually like. These clothes include ties, boxers, buttons ups, binders etc. […] ViewUgh, Dany that’s really rough. Unfortunately I don’t have any advice but I just wanted to say that I’m sending you good queer vibes and I wish you luck on your job search!

Genderstraddlers: 2 years agoWhen I was out shopping today for some formal(ish) clothes I picked up a couple of shirts, a tie and a waistcoat. When I took them to the counter the shop assistant looked at me strangely, paused and said: “Your boyfriend must be very lucky to have a pretty thing like you agree to buy his clothes for him”. The fact that I was standing in front…[Read more]
